Re: WK 6 Alexander (5-0) @ Athens (5-0) TVC OHIO
if athens plays the way they're capable of and come out with the right attitude they should win by a couple scores, their defense is pretty impressive and so is their offense

Re: WK 6 Alexander (5-0) @ Athens (5-0) TVC OHIO
It way too early to predict a score, but some things are easy to see...
ATHENS has a Tenacious D
ALEXANDER has scored a Bundle of POINTS
ATHENS has a potent Offense
ALEXANDER has allowed teams to score
That's the short-hand of the contest...
More to come in when the GAME gets CLOSER...

7072-thanks for catching the errors so I could correct the records of opponents played.
Athens opponents played are 3-22:
Gallia Academy 0-5
Federal Hocking 0-5
Bloom Carroll 2-3
Meigs 1-4
Vinton County 0-5
Alexander opponents played are 6-19:
Eastern 3-2
Trimble 1-4
Unioto 2-3
Belpre 0-5
Federal Hocking 0-5
Common opponent to date is Federal Hocking. Athens defeated in week two 47-7, Alexander defeated in week five 52-27.
Looks like most of the early folks are picking Athens to win this one hands down.

And actually as I have said before. Nobody in Athens cares what anybody from Logan says.

Good Luck to both teams, can't wait for the showdowns with NY!
What about the two other county teams??

Homecoming week in Athens! This always bring lots of excitement to the table but Don't let your guard down Bulldogs! Stay focused!
Again, suggesting everyone gets to Rutter Field early. Homecoming parade through The Plains begins at 6:00.
I pick Athens by 21.

Man, homecoming plus perhaps the biggest game ever taking place at Rutter Field Friday ... Im gonna be sooooo depressed when I have to go to either Fed Hock/Southern or Trimble/Eastern ... Although the Trimble/Eagles match-up might be pretty good ... but compared to the Athens/Alex game; it my as well be a junior high scrimmage ...
No pun intended toward the 'Cats or Eastern of course; I like both of them - its just that's how big the game on the Plains is gonna be ... Growing up in Athens, playing for the 'Dogs and having my close cousin, who is only 1-year younger, grow up in Albany - makes the Spartan/Bulldog game always a bit meaningful ... But with all the other intangibles, Friday's game is probably the most important game I have ever wanted to attend when it comes to my alma mater .... I was chompin at the bit to witness the epic Athens/Jackson match-up in 1990 ... & ... I stayed up all night the year before in '89 (when we decorated downtown Logan with green & gold) and I remember counting the hours/minutes until kickoff cause it was such a big game ... But in all honesty, I would rather see Friday's game more so than either of those ... The proximity of the schools, the closeness of the student bodies, the history of losing on both ends - the fact their 6-0 and possibly playing for a league title is getting kind of lost with all the other hoop-ala surrounding the game.
But there is no doubt about it - the party on Friday night is gonna be monsterous ... Maybe if I'm lucky, I can hear the cheers from Glouster Memorial Stadium and can figure out who might be winning ... lol

Good luck to both teams and hope it is an injury free game.
That said I will go with the Spartans in an upset by 7.
This will be a high scoring game as both teams can put up the points and both can give up a few.
GOOD LUCK SPARTANS

Bucks Dad, While I would agree that both teams can score points ( Alex-212 ) ( Athens-207 ). The defensive side of the ball isn't even remotly close to the same story Alex has given up 84 more points on the season than Athens. ( Alex-123 ) ( Athens-39 ) The Athens D hasn't given up more than 18 in any contest and has two shutouts. The Alex D hasn't given up fewer than 15 in any contest and gave up 32 to a Trimble team that has struggled for points all season ( 6 v/s N-Y and two shutout losses ). If my math is correct that would mean Alex D is averaging nearly 25 points against while the Athens D is only giving close to 8.

Is it Friday yet?
How is both teams on the injury front? I am pretty sure Athens is ok given a few bumps and bruises.
