man i dont know how many times it has to be said, too win and compete, you cna bash them all you wan but we realized we couldnt compete in the seoal for the past years, and if you went to the game i think you saw why,the stands were filled and money was being made,if you honestly cant answer the question yourself, your pretty dumb.

Many of the Alex fans love to hate on Athens. Especially when they lose to us. Disrespect the kids, coaches. But I guess we should be used to it by now. If they hate us because they lose to us, than I say bring on the hate, we can handle it.

There were "travel" costs for years, and Athens, with their multitude of educated, professsional upstanding supporters could surely cough up money for busses. Don't think so.

No disrespect to players and coaches- just to those schemers that wanted more success by changing leagues.

that was the press release of why they got out of the seoal. everyone knows why they got out. I would like to see athens put marietta, jackson, and warren on the schedule in the future. just not logan and zanesville.

Wellston vs. Vinton County also goes back to Week 10. Meigs vs. Alexander is the final new Week 10 matchup starting next year.

Football is a revenue sport so travel expense for it wasn't the issue, But if you recall when Athens opted out of the SEOAL fuel costs were at an all time high (over 4.50 for diesel) so when you figure the cost to send a bus load of girls to play a JV softball game in Ironton ( 3+ hours round trip )on a wednsday ( just an example) the fuel budget figures and allowances that were figured in previous years suddenly don't cut it.

BH,
Typical ignorant response. Not all kids in Athens belong to wealthy well educated parents. As a matter of fact the socio-economically disadvantaged demographic for students is higher in Athens than it is in the Alexander district. Poor little old you.

i thought the athens O really didn't play up to potential... good game though and everyone talks about how athens is DII, they seem to not realize how close to DIII Athens is... and i think athens would do pretty well in the SEOAL this year, i mean they definitely wouldn't beat logan or ironton but i could see them going 7-3 ish if they play their best football in the SEOAL... besides having athens play more schools in county makes the league picture more exciting

Athens is around 16 or 17 boys away from being D-3
I wouldn't worry about it though! The only people complaining about it are SEOAL schools

Wow nice photo set. These should clear up a little of the "bad calls" stuff on the radio last night. Photos clearly show the pass interfierence, two of the fumbles, two of the facemask calls, and three that show how big #79 deserved his ejection. Thanks for a job well done camera man.

Athens next year will be a DIII school (just like VC) and will remain DIII for many years...So we better not here you complaining about big teams and the advantages...Also, people must remember that it wasn't just the Football team that joined the TVC. All the sports joined, it was a move in the right direction for all. Cost being the biggest factor...and the core of Athens Football players do not come from the 'wealthy class' people think of when they here Athens....
-The Dude-
Athens O might have seemed boring to watch last night. This was probably due to the lack of passing. Passing equals big plays and running equals clock management. Athens didn't need to pass last night, because they were able to run the ball so effectively (around 300 rushing yards) ...
ATHENS
Nice Win Again Last Night...
Let the haters hate, we play the schedule we are dealt...
Next Week...Wellston...Keep the Focus...
