Season Rushing Record at Portsmouth West?
Re: Season Rushing Record at Portsmouth West?
Eli Parkes from minford had around 1500 yards and 22 touchdowns in 1999-2000
Re: Season Rushing Record at Portsmouth West?
With the more balanced offense that West has shown the last 2 weeks, I would say Pendelton's numbers will go down and Murphy's and others will come up. I would be more concerned with the team rushing number than the individual numbers. If Pendelton was a single back, there is no doubt he could rush for 2000.

Would love to know how many yards Tim Maxey finished with for Notre Dame in 1988. I know he was a finalist for Mr. Football

Parkes had 21 touchdowns that year it was a school record till Trent Reynolds broke it in 2007-2008 season

10 tackles, 11 yards a carry, almost 3 td's, and 110 yards a game. Not bad.

That's 183.3 yds per game.
He has also only got a total of 3 carries in the second half the last two weeks.

If we are talking way back football at Notre Dame on a West forum, you asked about Maxey, what about Todd Douthat 86' 87 seasons. He was a stud.....

The Bart Evans I'm talking about is the one from 82-85, the father of Tyler Evans who played at West and Valley...the other Bart Evans, who is the softball coach now is older than that

All I got to say is wow, I predicted 1200 yards and 100 tackles, but hes almost there...I knew he was that good, but I just didn't expect those stats.

With that many tailbacks with big numbers, it sounds to me like we should ask a different question. 'Do you think West can lay claim as O-line U of the SOC II in this decade?'
West has some really good lines and lineman, the ones that sticks out to me the most were the 01 line (almost the same as the 02 line, the 02 state team line (the McCormicks, Kamer, McGraw, Mosley), even though the team underachieved the 05 line was good with(Whitman, Horsely, Baker, etc) and the 08 line (Sparks, Lester, Weber, Campbell, Miller)...the problem on the line has been constienency, we have good line is spurts...but I think with this weight program we can keep producing good lines, we have a lot of potiental right now, I think people will be talking about this group of sophmores and juniors for a long time

Not so much that we're talking Notre Dame on a West forum, just that various posters have added info from their respective schools. As far as Todd goes, yes, a great all-around football player from one of my favorite Scioto County teams of all time, the unscored upon 1987 Titans. Todd was a power back with deceptive speed for his size, certainly a stud on both sides of the ball. This team came out flat in the first round of the playoffs and were hammered at home by Grandview Heights. Maxey was another first team all-stater for the Titans the very next year. He finished in the top 5 voting for Mr. Football, behind 2-time winner Robert Smith of Euclid. Tim was one of the fastest tailbacks I've ever seen from these parts. They won their first round game against Canal Winchester but it came at a price, Tim blew out his knee and was lost for the season. Consequently, Newark Catholic blew out the Titans the very next week on the same field.

Re: Season Rushing Record at Portsmouth West?
I believe the single season (2100+) as well as the overall records belong to Phil "Pep" Gibson from the mid 70's teams. I'll never forget the "duct tape" they used to keep his socks up over his calves.
Re: Season Rushing Record at Portsmouth West?
Master Yoda, I believe you may be correct about Pep. I can't find any evidence to dispute this. Thanks for the info!
