Note to Federal Hocking and Trimble players regarding tryouts on 5/24. If you team is still in the playoffs you cannot participate in tryouts. But you need to attend tryouts to express your interest in playing for P21. If your high school practice is scheduled at the same time (5:00 pm) and you cannot attend tryouts, you should call Coach Chadwell (740-541-0020) and express your interest. If necessary we will have a special tryout night for just the FH and/or Trimble kids. Nobody will get left out...

So Glouster doesn't have a team McLintock? Has anyone asked about J.D. Chesser playing, or is he a 'TOMCAT FOOTBALL' guy - where the sport is played or practiced 365 days per year?

I have a jr. legion team in Glouster that J.D. will be playing on this year...... he is hopefull to try out and make the P21 team next year. He will definitley try out. He also may be playing fall baseball in Lancaster this fall... trying to decide between that and football

What about the boys from Nelsonville-York? Will they try out for Athens or will they go to Logan to play? There are some players on that team that could definitely help out a legion team this summer.

Nelsonville .... summer baseball????

Are you kidding baseballstud??? They don't play anything but football from the end of basketball season until early August .... sure they field a highschool team; but some say its only because they have too ... lol ... but once school is let out, Dave has them boys thinking football 24-7.

TOMCATDAD .... Why does JD have to play for the Glouster Junior team? He's plenty good enough to give Post 21 a try - it could be a 'once-in-a-lifetime' opportunity for J.D to play on a team that could very well win the 8th District and qualify for the State Tournament.

Honestly, I see a lot of comparisons with this years Post 21 team (as long as all the players in the area play) and the 1990 team that WON THE STATE title and advanced to the regionals in St. Cloud Minn. ... Could the team be as good? Perhaps - but it would take every talented baseball player in the area to go out (try-out) and really be motivated to do their best and win .... the '90 team was ultra talented with 4 Division I players; but this is a 10 year anniversary of sorts and the team could be really, really good if they all play hard and stick with it for the entire summer. I think JD would have a good chance at making the team - and like I said - it may be a once-in-a-lifetime chance.

JD (as well as any of the Trimble players) would be more than welcome @ P21 tryouts...

because Im his daddy and I said so........lol....... we have a really good team with a mixture of trimble and nelsonville boys who we think can make a good push for the jr state tourney. we have alot of talented players. we had alot of time and money invested in this season and didnt want to let that go. the boys raised and begged for all the money to be able to play this year.

Tomcatdad - Well ... I guess you can't trump the 'ol Daddy says so' rule ... lol ... good luck on your season. And don't worry, your not the first to keep hold of the hometown talent in Glouster ... Shamhart did the same in the early 90's - we tried like heck to get Justin Day, Rubin Kittle & Tommy Hardy to play for Athens - but he got just enough Trimble/NY kids to field a team and keep the trio from jumping ship to Post 21.

G.W.

I understand your ideology about the number of players - I remember last year watching or covering you guys and it seemed like almost every week or game the team had 3 or 4 players missing (vacation, summer camps, etc..etc...) I could see why a coach would want to maximize his or her roster ...

I know one thing, back in '92 and '93 coach Gibson basically told us we weren't going on vacation that summer .... lol .... I guess you could have went, but you wouldn't have a starting spot when you got back ... boy how things have changed ... baseball actually had equal footing though with football back then - pretty crazy eh?

JD will try out there next year for sure. He just turned 16 so he could still play 3 years for P21 ( I think). He is looking forward to it. he is a baseball junkie.

Thanks G.W., We will try to bring a couple with him to try outs next year..... but for now we are getting ready for thursday and newark catholic..

HEY G.W.

IVE BEEN CHECKING OUT YOUR P-21 WEB SITE .... (1ST) WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE A PLAYER THAT 'WENT ON TO PLAY COLLEGE BASEBALL' TO BE AN ALLUMNI MEMBER OR ON THE ALLUMNI LIST? JUST BECAUSE I WAS DATING A SUPER, SUPER HOT CHICK WHEN I GRADUATED (AND YEA, SHE WAS THE PROM QUEEN ... lol) AND DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE ATHENS TO TRY AND PLAY A SPORT AT SOME DINKY INSTITUTION IN THE MIDDLE OF NEWHERE - SHOULDN'T DISALLOW ME FROM BEING ON A 'P-21 ALLUMNI LIST!' LOL

(2ND) YOU NEED TO ADD trivalleyconference.com TO YOUR LIST OF LINKS & FRIENDS .... I WILL DO THE SAME IN THE NEXT FEW MINUTES WITH YOUR SITE & ADD IT TO MY LINKS LIST. (3RD) I'M GONNA STEAL A FEW PICTURES FROM YOUR SITE SO I CAN ADD THEM TO THE FEDERAL HOCKING TEAM PAGE ... I HAVE A FEW I TOOK FOR THE MESSENGER LAST YEAR; BUT I LIKED A COUPLE OF YOURS TOO.

THX

Hey now...I know football is still #1 in N-Y, but there is some very good young talent on their baseball team. The sophomore class is loaded with players and Nick Hunter (senior) is looking to pitch somewhere after high school. He would be a tremendous help to the P-21 pitching staff. Perhaps another year in Glouster on the Jr. legion team would be okay for the younger guys from N-Y, but I look for a couple of them to make a big impact on P21 in the next couple of years...(unless Glouster starts a senior team)
