Alex had way too many penalties, some were warranted others I won't comment on.

Athens played a good game and they should have won...they have more players and was able to keep them fresh, where most of the Alex boys plays both sides of the ball.

Learn from the mistakes Alex and get ready for NY next Friday ...you still are the best team that has been in Albany in a long time.

Bring Pancake back to the radio show it was much better when he was in charge of the after show for football. The Guru will always be the best. As long as you have shows like this you'll have people call in to talk about the officials and players. The guy doing the show should just hang up on the caller and cut them off when they start talking about the officials and players. It's all on the show host.

Gotta agree with some things BH1 and athens 78 posted. Athens playing schools in smaller divisions will not help them get to the playoffs let only help them in the playoffs. With Athens move to the TVC they have only themselves to thank for this. Granted they have to play us smaller schools in the TVC Ohio...their non league scheduled to get beefed up.

Oh BTW...107.7 supports ALL of the county schools and do a decent job.

First loss is tough to swallow, the refs weren't great but they called it down the middle. Let us not forget Alex may not had scored tonight if not for back to back holding calls and a precedure call that moved us inside our own 10 just a play before Alex forces a fumble and returned it. Secondly the refs didn't throw an interception or lose a fumble tonight for the Spartans, that one can only be blamed on the players on the field. Alex fans are upset because one of the linemen was tossed for fighting as was one of our decent players. Also I can't think of one call during the game that was a blatently obvious bad call, I'll watch it again in the morning to see if I missed something but i don't think I did. Let me finish with this, the Spartans played hard tonight as I posted on the real thread and they should be proud of their effort and learn from their mistakes. You have four more games and I wish you the best of luck.

Athens78 you talk about 107.7 being worthless, give me a break show me one business or family that support all local athletes in Athens County than 107.7 and the Edwards family. They do not just support the Buckeye’s they have supported every team in Athens county. As for people calling in and complaining about the ref’s that is their opinion and I have heard fans from all schools call in and do it, NY, Alex, Athens, Fed Hock, Trimble.

i know they won it in 1990 but can't remember if they also won it in 1991. i know the banner in the gym says 1990 but i thought it was wrong. logan has pretty much won all the years after that.

I'm tired of hearing about how the family supports all the schools. They support Nelsonville and Trimble 99% more then any other school in the County. Also I just heard a lady on the radio talk about the tailgate food. I'm the same who cares about the food at tailgates. The bottom line is they get free food. They've made a big deal out of high school football tailgate. Do they know people are drinking on school property? Is this legal? It's not college football.

Wow now a lady is on saying the coach at Alex really bad. The guy should just cut her off but he just keeps arguing with her. I think she is drinking. Maybe from the tailgate.

Believe they supported Alex girls 3-4 times when they went to the state. By the way, I can remember a time(20-30 years ago) of when the city schools were better than those farmers' county schools. I guess "farming" is the fad to join now.

Could also be wrong, but I don't remember SEOAL being painted on the gym floor. But TVC is sure there now. :-D

Athens78 Call and ask any of the schools in Athens County and ask them who pays for the big Charter Buses that they ride when they make it to playoffs and other things, you will always get the same answer and if you don’t like it and it’s so bad turn your radio off. Ask the school what business and family offers them special deals to bring the local kids from Athens County to the Movie Theater for next to nothing or free. I am not related to them but I am a Buckeye fan and graduated from Alex. I have many friends at Athens and family that teaches at Athens.

By the looks of the English and writing skills, I think you may be "gating" too. I know Athens schools' education would not have let this get by from someone that graduated in 1978.

DONT LIKE IT DONT LISTEN!!! EDWARDS ARE VERY GOOD PEOPLE.AND THEY COVER ATHENS AS WELL.( JUST LIKE THE HOMETOWN PAPER ATHENS MESSENGER)
ATHENS HAS GOT BIGGER SPORTS WRITE UPS FOR LOSING IN THE PAST THAN OTHER ATHENS COUNTY SCHOOLS DO FOR WINNING.

The tailgates they are attending are not located on school property, they are held on ajoining properties with landowner permission. ( At least at Fed and Athens for sure.)

Ain't a grammar Nazi, just a lowly farmer from the county.
