Marietta is struggling right now. They can't seem to put a good 4 quarters of football together on both side of the ball. Hard to find any info on Riverveiw. We NEED this win, the rest of the schedule very challenging to say the least. I hopeing for a riled up Tiger team that will get the crowd wound up early. Go Tigers!

Marietta was up 14-9 late in the 4th with Warsaw Riverview driving. Dieder Baker seems like a man among boys at times. WOW, he is all over the place and also has 3 interceptions.

Yes, 14-9 was the final. Riverview's 9 came from a safety and a block punt ran in for a touchdown. Baker was a stud last night, he was everywhere, but I worry he'll survive playing Cambridge, Zanesville, and Dover. Not to mention New Philly. We're done with the 5th game and our coaches are still not taking what the defense in offering. YOU CANNOT RUN THE BALL WITH 10 PEOPLE IN THE BOX!!!!!!!!!!! Riverview was daring us to pass and when we did go 4 receiver sets we would roll out leaving poor Futrell with one receiver in triple coverage. Very disheartening. Our defense played well and will only get better next year and the year after. Please, please, please, Coach Springer, bring in a true offensive coordinator that can utilize the talent we have on the team, not a system that we don't have the personnel to run effectively. To the players, I'm so happy for you guys, you played hard the whole game like you have this whole season. Have fun at Homecoming tonight. BE SAFE!!!!!

Marietta has improved on the kicking game with two extra points and a punt over the returners' heads. Marietta was the only team to score offensively with the safety(I actually thought the QB actually broke the plane to get out of the end zone) and return of a nearly muffed quick kick that was picked out of the air near the kickers foot and returned for a TD. The officials had lots of administrative problems slowing down the game and they called lots of holding penalties including one that negated a 70+ yd TD run for RV on the first play from scrimmage in the 2nd half. Even with no offensive points, RV was in position to score a TD and win the game with the ball in the red zone with 2 min left in the 4th qtr.

I really liked the RV QB. He put several throws right on target in the first half that the receivers couldn't handle, including a 30 yarder down the right sidelines that came down right in the receivers hands, but he worse than dropped it as he flipped it up in the air for an easy interception. But the last pass for the young QB into the EZ for the winning TD slipped out of his hands and was a Billy Kilmeresque wounded duck and the only thing that was going to save it from being a game losing interception was going to be if two or more Marietta defenders knocked each other off the ball.

If all Marietta is going to do is allow the QB to "manage" the game, why not let Futrell line up at slot or wideout. He is a very good athlete. Let the soph "manage" the game and get important experience for the future. Especially if he is only playing D right now. It seems they have become way too one dimensional. Only 5 games left but geez, are Baker and Gearhart all we have?
