Minford vs. Burg
Re: Minford vs. Burg
If Conrad is out it will be a different game. As I have said before he filled the scoring void that they desperately needed. Tuesday night he did not play the second half and Waverly totally dominated the play. Not enough Hackworths to go around. The game now means more to Wheelersburg because Minford has already clinched.

I guess I am a little confused by the totally dominated 2nd half part because as I remember the game, Minford scored the winning goal in the 2nd half. Way to go Minford, Beat the Burg tonight
Re: Minford vs. Burg
Good Luck to Both teams tonight last game Minford and Burg played Minford wanted it more. Hopefully an entertaining Injury free game especially this close to the tournaments.

You are confused!!! You're last goal was tapped in by a Waverly player. Ask anybody that was there. Minford took a total of two shots in the second half.
Re: Minford vs. Burg
to end confusion: i saw officials scorecard and both minford goals were credited to hackworth one @ 32 minutes first half and second goal @ 16 seconds second half. The contest tonight minford changed it up enough to create sufficient offense for the win GREAT TEAM EFFORT WAY TO GO FALCONS

Re: Minford vs. Burg
I just think total domination would mean the other team would have won. Maybe it would have been better to say dominated until Minford scored twice that half and won the game......

Minford only took 2 shots the last half, the last with 16 seconds to go, which was the only goal of the second half, that ended up being knocked in by Waverly's sweeper. Without Conrad, Minford is not the same team. Here's hoping he heals up and another SOC team extends the tournament.
Re: Minford vs. Burg
Minford 5 burg 3 game was ended early with more than 4 minuites left to play due to the storm. score at the half was 4-1. Both teams seemed to playing a lot of the bench in the second half. Hackworth and Blackburn controlled the middle quite well and Hackworth made time to drop 3 in the goal as he pleased. Huff scored the first goal on a breakaway. The other goal for minford was by the goalie Duncan Jordan on a pk. Scoring for burg was the Jarvis boy on a pk and two impressive shots from Brooks. The game was pretty well reffed. Just my opinion but I think it was evident that Minford wanted it more and showed that by challenging every ball and winning most of them before they ever touched the ground.
Take notice of the score soccerfix. True Conrad will be missed but a different team.... I don't think so.

Re: Minford vs. Burg
What is the health report on Conrad? I saw him holding his outside hip, someone told me it might be his groin. With Minford's record they should at least be no worse than a 2 seed so that should be at least two weeks before he needs to play. Come tournament time we are all SOC.
Re: Minford vs. Burg
I think Burg played absolutely horrible last night. There was no passing, horrible traps, and absolutely no drive to win the aerial balls. The way Burg is playing right now they would be lucky to get out of sectionals. Maybe they would be best suited to get away from their kickball mentality and try to play soccer for once.
Re: Minford vs. Burg
minford played well. worked hard and passed well. for the burg it is like groundhog's day. every game is the same and the result is the same. This year Waverly 0 1-1. Minford 0-2. Webster 0-1. coaching seems to think you can continue to do the same thing every game and expect a different result. the teams above are the local measuring stick. goals came from pk and two dribble-dribble-dribble shot for goals. this approach has not worked this year and it seems to be the only way they know how to set up. the philosophy is lets not take care of the ball and then let the defense run full speed the length of the field and bulldoze the defense. i guess the keeper change in the second half was the strategic move. outstanding!
congrats to the falcons on another soc. they played well. burg now way outside the soc looking in.
good luck to the teams in tournament. one needs all the luck they can get. maybe luck can be the strategy.

Re: Minford vs. Burg
Good thoughts rxburgfan. I'll share a little soccer tip that I got from watching the movie "Goal": "The ball can travel faster than a person."
That's why quick, SHORT passing would be the best for them because kickball isn't working anymore. I'm sorry to inform people that kickball should only be seen on recess playgrounds.

Re: Minford vs. Burg
Good post RXBurgFan and a good follow up Keegan. Passing has been non existant for the Burg the last few games especially in bigger games. Were any of the goals this week assisted? I dont think they were. you cant beat good teams if you dont share the ball. The Minford game wasn't as close as the score indicated. The Falcons controlled the game for the most part.
Re: Minford vs. Burg
the system may work, but not for this group. let's keep hope alive. maybe if we keep trying hard enough maybe it will work. unfortunately, the regular season is over. excuse me while i try to continue running through this concrete wall. good luck in the tourney. winning is good for the soul. burg needs good win.

but kickball has worked so good since the mid-80's

Re: Minford vs. Burg
preps fan the key words are "kickball" and "changed". losing does not seem to be a motivator in decision making. as i said earlier it seems as if the idea is if we keep doing the same thing maybe it will eventually work. i am glad to see many teams in soc trying to make changes in style of play. however, several refuse. so excuse me again. i need to get back to trying to run through this concrete wall.
Re: Minford vs. Burg
I'll share a little soccer tip that I got from watching the movie "The Big Green". Keep playing hard, and movies are just that movies. Maybe if we watch the movie the "fantastic four" we could have someone with super powers that can run with the ball faster than passing. There has only been a few things change at burg that i can think of.
Keegan you are probably a senior by now why do you support what you call kickball? instead of your past school?? I have been confused by this??

Re: Minford vs. Burg
I don't support the style of play I support a player on that team. Maybe since someone knows so much about me they should probably know that already
Re: Minford vs. Burg
its ok to have a style of play if you can recruit players into the system. with local high schools you have to adjust your style of play to the players you have. an unwillingness to change and keep losing shows maybe you don't care if you win or lose. good coaches show they can make adjustments.
