Re: SOC2: Portsmouth West (5-2) @ Lucasville Valley (6-1)
West's lines need to step up. I've seen them play twice and they've been manhandled on both sides of the ball. Both Minford and Portsmouth were consistently getting 3 or 4 players into the backfield all night. Valley has similar athletes and should be able to cause the same problems. That being said, I still think Pendelton and Murphy are tough backs and with a little blocking could make this a rough night for the Indians. If Valley's line is able to hold, they should be able to pick West's secondary apart. As with most games, it should come down to the trenches, and Valley although not tested as hard, has held up better in that area.

Re: SOC2: Portsmouth West (5-2) @ Lucasville Valley (6-1)
whoever said valley doesn't have the talent at running back probably hasn't seen them play... holcomb is a very agile back with crabtree bringing some strength to the table. Will schultz and keller to add some depth and fresh legs valley's backs are very good. the difference between valley and west? depth, speed, and more than one player making the whole team. but jus to appease the siders... pendelton is an animal/beast whatever you wanna call him.

Monkeyman, the name says it all. With this your first day of posting, you need not
to start off that way. Good luck to both teams, and a injury free game.

We will see how west handles some adversity this week and how good valley is. Now before you valley posters jump all over me hold on. Everyone knows valley is good, but I think this week we figure out just HOW good, not a dig at them just my opinion. I really think valley has a chance to make some noise in the SOC II this year but this week will determine how much. I will say this, they have a heck of a stretch to close out the year, west then burg then the Falcons, wow that's a tough three weeks to finish up with.

No one from Valley is going to "jump" on you, when the season started, we all said these boys were a year away, but they have been playing really well and we think they can make a little noise in this SOC race...and these next 3 weeks, WOW. To be honest, out last 4 games are usually a wow, but Waverly has been down the past few years.

For what it's worth (not much) calpreps picks west 21-20 over valley. I really don't think it will be that close, I look for one of the teams to come out and set the tone early and win by around 14-17 points. Now what team that may be, I'm not sure.

This should be an interesting game. Except Coal Grove, Valley has not played anyone yet but have played well in all games. West came into the Minford game in the same boat: since the Portsmouth game they had played no one. West will play much faster this week than last. Can Valley out physical West? Can West improve in pass defense? This game will tell us a lot about both teams. I think West will come out firing on all cylinders and this will be a high scoring game, possibly won on the last possession.

I can't wait to see who wins this one, I think these teams are evenly matched. Both teams have alot to prove. West has to come back from a big loss, and Valley has to prove they can compete with the SOC II powerhouses.
I wouldn't want to play West after the loss they had Sat. Their coaching staff will get them ready, and fired up for Friday. They will not take that loss very well.
Valley has alot to prove, if they can beat West then everyone will take notice. This is a major game for Valley football. They want to run with the big dogs, if they can. If they can win Friday, that will be one step closer, to having respect in the SOC II.
West 28
Valley 14

West has alot to lose in this one because their playoff hopes hinge on them winning out. Valley loses and they have to beat Burg and Minford to have a chance for a share of the Gold Football. Plus, Valley will not be in the playoff picture unless they beat 2 of 3 between West, Burg and Minford.
Lots on the line in this one. I bet the West football practice last night and tonight would be something to watch after the Minford loss! I wouldnt want to be a part of it, thats for sure. Triplett wont stay down long and I dont know if he has lost 2 games in a row since he has been at West.
At the end of the day I think Valley thinks they are really physical, but at 6-1 they are only 12th in Region 19.....so its not hard to look strong against the Huntington Ross, Rock Hill, Chesapeake teams. Although they did go toe to toe with the Grove.
It will be very interesting to see how this one turns out.
GO SIDERS!

yep, try 4 games in a row to close out the 07 season!
I can only find 2 West losses to Valley in school history......'99 and '07
Northwest has a better overall record against West.

Yes they did beat Perennial powerhouse West Oaf in 2007. So Valley has proved they can compete with the SOC II like West.

I think this will be a well played and close game. I know Coach Tripplet and Coach Crabtree will have their teams ready. I have a lot of respect for both coaches. West's physical play is always hard to stop and Valley has some real playmakers this year. I wish both squads well.

2 wins in school history in at least 35 games is considered competing?
Man, the dribble doesn't fall far from the tree in Lucasville does it?
Better quit hitting the peace pipe young Injun' SOC II > SOC I

Since this game is being played on the turf at Valley, I have to go with the Indians. If the Minford receivers were able to get behind the West defenders on a muddy field, how is West going to be able to stop the speed of Valley on the turf?

It is going to be a good game to watch, but I hope West put it on the Indians.
They better score some points this week, because next week is Burg and everyone knows Valley cant score TD'S on them. ha

Big Deal? With all do respect, Minford, Waverly, and NW have 3 outright titles between them in conference history. To measure Valley against these 3 teams as a gauge of competitiveness in the SOC II overall is laughable at best. Valley is 0-and forever against Burg and 2-30 at best against West all time. Forgive us if we aren't impressed with your football program out there in Lucasville Chicken_opps
