SOC2: Portsmouth West (5-2) @ Lucasville Valley (6-1)
Re: SOC2: Portsmouth West (5-2) @ Lucasville Valley (6-1)
haha, I doubt that.....I don't think the fact is lost on Valley's coach's that there are a couple of Bricker's on West's staff.
We won't see any fights............until maybe week 10?
Red, I'm just gonna go ahead and bring my smoker, might as well do it up right man!
You know, Valley's trainer has a "west side connection." We miss you Mike!
Reminds me of when George Washington-Nile chopped down his daddy's crabapple tree!

In my opinion it is probably the most even matched game of the season.
Both teams have beaten pretty much the same competition, might give the edge to Valley just on the fact that they're at home.
Valley 42 West 35 in 3 OT's

I don't see anyone from Valley getting cocky, but I see people that are confident in their team's ability. I've said many times that Valley may lose this game and the next two, but I would be shocked if they won 2 of 3 or all 3... they will be in every game the rest of the way. And it's one thing for West or Burg to talk about having Valley's number (although West is only 3-2 against Valley since '99) but Minford is has only beat Valley about 5 times in the last 20 years and are only 5-4 the last 9 years. Valley-Minford is a rivalry and each team has pulled an upset and had many games go down to the wire. I respect what each of these teams have done, but the arrogance and ignorance of the situations kill me.
You speak of playoff appearances as if it happened recently. Minford will be on their 3rd or 4th year in a row if they win out this year. When was VALLEY'S last playoff game and have they made it to the playoffs since joining the SOC II?

Maybe it's because I have affiliations with different school districts, but I'm torn between loving the rivalries and wishing we could all show a little more respect/support for one another.
Personally, I'm proud as can be that Minford is attempting to make the playoffs for the third time in a four year period for the first time in school history (also three years in a row for the first time in school history, obviously). I'm also proud as can be that Valley and Wheelersburg have both played for a Regional Title in the last four years (not including this year). I'm also proud as can be that Waverly and West have both had playoff wins in the same time frame.
What it boils down to is we have five very competitive teams in this small-school league that year in and year out produces at least one team capable of making a run in the playoffs and many years produces multiple playoff teams.
I think we are all pretty fortunate.

1985 I believe. Minford vs CAPE
You still refuse to answer my question about if Valley has been to week 11 since joining the SOC II cause the answer is no. Tougher schedule, tougher to get in.
good luck tonight against West

you didnt ask me the question...but i'll answer it..no they have not. 2005 was the last time Valley made the playoffs. Beating Grandview 14-7 in the first round, and then beat Bishop Ready in Rd. 2 28-6 before losing the regional title game to centerburg 26-21.

Valley intercepts a West pass deep......Valley takes over and fumbles and West scores....
West 7
Valley 0
West 7
Valley 0

Valley won 21 to 17.
Insane game! Extremely hard fought but in my opinion was very dirty and cheap at the end and a lack of class was showed by some players and some fans.
I just hope the injuries sustained by the Indians dont carry over into the next few weeks.

If or when Minford makes the playoffs it will be their 3rd year in a row or maybe 4th... Good for them. But the tougher schedule has less to do with it than the lack of talent that Valley had for a few years because Minford hasn't dominated week 10 even when they've been the much better team. Hell even with a much lesser team last season Valley took a Minford playoff team to the wire. Anyways, it doesn't matter because the Falcons aren't a concern until week 10. Valley played a sloppy game tonight and had the toughness to find a way to win tonight. It was great game to watch.
It was tough to watch little cousin and defensive leader and captain #10 go down on the first offensive play with a serious knee injury. Keeping my fingers crossed that it's not as bad as it looked.
The Indians and the Senators both played very tough physical football games tonight. It even crossed the lines a few times and drew some flags for both teams. It was a game that most West fans didn't think Valley could win, but the Indians showed a ton of heart.
And 5-35, I think that helps some people keep track.
