Didn't know Gallia's outstanding senior Kyle Dingess, leading pass receiver and one of the team's top defensive player, sat out last night's game.

Understand he became ill before the game, went to the hospital for a checkup, came back in the third period and dressed, but did not get into the game.

GALLIPOLIS — Drenched in sweat, caked with mud and overflowing with emotion, Mike Eddy trudged out of the quagmire also known as Memorial Field to ring the victory bell following Gallia Academy’s 27-10 win over Chillicothe on Friday night.

The rookie head coach had tears in his eyes as he and the Blue Devils and the vocal horde that is the GAHS student section made their way toward the bell; the students chanting “Eddy! Eddy! Eddy!” to celebrate his first victory as head coach and the Devils’ first win of 2009.

“Oh, this feels so good,” Eddy said just seconds prior to ringing the bell. “These kids have worked so hard and been through so much. They never gave up. They deserve this.

“Hey, I gotta go ring that bell!”

I cant even type this without tears in my own eyes. Coach, Ive told you several times since you arrived in Gallipolis that I believe in you and what you are doing. Even a blind man can see and appreciate that. Thanks for investing your life in our community, school and kids! We are the better for your coming!

gahs4ever, "cautiously optimistic" is a good description of my feel for this game.
Anything could happen, a BH win or a GAHS win.
BH could win by a blowout.
If the Blue Devils win, it will probably be a close game.

I have done some research on bishop hartley,they are very fast and very well coached.I think the one kid has amost 900 yards at this point in the season.their defense is the strong point of this team.But they flat run the ball at you.
The team has amassed 21 sacks for the year which is a pretty high number.

It is probable that they are very athletic.

The victory bell was previously located at the top of the steps of the old swimming pool off 4th Ave., and was used for pep rallies on the old pool steps. I think it was moved to Memorial Field around 1970 when Ecker's wreckers won the SEOAL title with an unbeaten record.
