From '99 to '02 Belpre lost a total of four games in the TVC. Two of those games were at Wellston, one at Alex, and i forget where that other one was at. In addition to winning the TVC four years in a row, Belpre also made it to the Final Four in '01. I wish I could see Dustin Guthrie and Nick Morey go at it because at the time Morey never had anyone who challenged him other than Ardo Armpolo (spelling?) from Wellston. Morey and Klein were a big reason why Belpre won four in a row.

VC has been a very dominant team in the TVC since 2004. They are the cream of the crop in the league. I personally don't see them going undefeated this year but I see them winning the league. They are the best coached team in the TVC-Ohio, Combs has brought alot of enthusiasm, discipline, and pride to a traditionally middle of the pack program.

I believe that other loss was to Vinton County, at Vinton County. I will check.

Vinton County has also had talent in the past, and may have been "a traditionally middle of the pack program," but to diminished any recent success or even to insult the current state of Vinton County basketball or even in general, TVC basketball, (BM), is ludicrous at best.

Belpre won 5 straight TVC titles. 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1996.

Then won 4 straight in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001.

Thats 9 titles in 10 years. Even when they didn't win it in 1997 (8-12), they had a great tourney run (6-1) and made it to the Final Four.

Add in the titles in 1988 and 2004, thats 11 titles in 17 years.

Boiler - Wellston actually won the TVC OHIO in 1994 - so they have had a good team since the 90''s they also made it to the Districts that season only to lose to I believe Southeastern and their 7'0" center Scaggs I think.

highspeed, wellston's last tvc title was in 2002-2003 season i believe, and that is when they lost to southeastern in the district semi-final game.

Highspeed Im guessing that 1994 would fall under the 90s. I did forget about 2002 team.

Wow, sounded like a great player. How'd he end up in Wellston. Bet his Dad got transferred in to work at the Ski plant.

In regard to Belpre TVC BkB championships:

Wellston did not win the TVC in 1994, Belpre did.

Belpre did not win the TVC in 1998, Alexander did.

Belpre did win the TVC in 2002.

Belpre did not win the TVC in 2004, Vinton County did.

Belpre won or shared 11 titles in 18 years, not 17.

Any way you look at it, that is a pretty good 18 year run for Belpre.

Just trying to get the facts straight.

I would say with those lofty stats Belpre would have to be crowned king of the roundball ,,,unless you consider the other roundball and that would be Alexander.

After watching the Athens Shriner's Preview last night, I think some of you may want to change your vote. I think many of you are over estimating Vinton and under estimating Athens. Should be an interesting season. May the games begin. This fan can't wait.

Vinton County never played any combination of starters; never did they run any offensive or defensive sets. Furthermore, the Vikings only lost because they did not shoot well, had plenty of looks, only a few fell. To me it look like an open gym, having said that, I will say the Tornadoes played harder than the Vikings.

I think that Athens has a shot, but Vinton County should win it this season. The sectional will be interesting to watch, as well as the district tourney.
