Vinton County over Paint Valley tonight...79-54. VC played their bench players just about an entire half altogether. Nice to see Wiseman and Chesser really take advantage of some varsity time! Wiseman really impressed me tonight with his hustle!! Good job by the Vikings as they got out early and got the W. VC's starters really pushed the ball alot and made it an uptempo game..I think VC scored 16 points or so before PV finally got on the board. Paint Valley really got it going at the end of the 1st half and into the second as their shots started falling. PV played hard and really huslted all night long..also, the PV fans were really loud all night which was good too see. They stayed behind the kids and really got rowdy in the 3rd when PV had the lead cut to about 15. Good job by all though..I could deffinatly see some early season rust from VC..but all in all, they played solid. VC will have a long layoff...8 days...before traveling to the Convo in Athens to play John Glenn from the MVL in the Holzer hoops tourny. Should be a good early season test for the Vikings!! Congrats to VC and good luck to Paint Valley the rest of the way!!!

Wellston 70
Glenwood New Boston 36

Jaylen Prater 10 Points 17 Rebounds
Jeff Matteson 16 Points 12 Rebounds
Grant Thompson 12 Points off the bench

All 15 players got to play and many freshman and sophomores received their first varsity minutes. After a slow expected start the Rockets came out smokin. Looked good from the last row of the bleechers.

That's a quality win for Coach Gabriel and The Spartans. It seems that everyone is predicting VC & Athens to contend for the TVC Ohio, but I think Alex might have a say in things before the year is over.

Belpre. 78
Waterford 67

Tate led the Eagles with a triple double with 25 points 14 rebounds and 11 assist. Sims chipped in with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Lots of fouls called lots of turnovers for both teams. Just like the Fort Frye game this team is proving to be a 4th quarter ball club. Playing clutch when it counted making the plays they had to make and hit the free throws they had to hit.

Wes Meadows was the leading scorer for the Spartans (3-0) with 17 points.
Zach Bobo chipped in with 13.

the score was not an accurate showing of how the game was...meigs was winning most of the game and when alex took the lead, it was still close until the last couple minutes when meigs went into desperation mode and had many fouls to stop the clock and turned it over instead of converting to points when they did get the ball.

Meigs will have a chance to redeem themselves when they host Belpre next week. Its a perfect chance to prove to the TVC that they are for real.

Just read an account of the Wellston (picked to win TVC by Boiler and the laughable Captain Midnight) and N-York game.

Wellston had N-Y right where they wanted them at half-time (13-13 tie, let me repeat that, 13-13 TIE) but with the score tied at 17 at 4:24 in the third, Wellston lost their cool (2 technicals, one on coach Derrow) and eventually lost the game 45-31. The game was played AT WELLSTON.

Well, maybe they will go 11-1 the rest of the way with that kind of offensive power.

Wellston has been known to 'lose their cool' at times...

Ahhh.....Nothing like another newbie classless poster who — right off the bat and will probably only get worse — puts down other programs.
