Gonna be a long, cold, and lonely ride home for the Bucks if they actually expect to come in to the Tank and come out with a win.
At least they'll be part of history, I guess.

I can feel it already. Bish eating mexican food, two hours from home. I hope they have an extra supply of Charmin and Tucks. I do have a question about an earlier post that I submitted...it was nothing close to being out of line, however, it never posted to the remarks. I may have not hit submit, but, do the mods see what we are typing before we hit the submit key?
I know that several Logan posters birdog all of Ironton's topics so maybe they can answer this question. While they are experiencing a nice run of football as of lately, when did this run actually begin? Every one of their posters have stated that we are basically going to get our heads bashed in and I just want to thank you for your predictions. You would think that a community that is 10 miles up the road would give us a little support. When I read posts from fuzzhead and fanofsports, I am reminded of why I hate hemorrhoids, Ford's and Blatz beer. I can understand their hatred or envy of NY, but not from Logan.
OK...I'm done whining. GO BUCKS...Fill the box, Play 4 quarters, BUCKEYE PRIDE
Oh.....I almost forgot....GO Chiefs!!!

The discrepancy is OHSAA doesn't keep up to date or accurate records. I assure you that this number, 360 is accurate. He had 20 wins at Ironton St. Joe before coming to IHS where he now has 340 wins. Irontonfootball.com shows every game every played and won by the Tigers while Coach Lutz has been there. The AD had someone go through all the year books as well to make sure the number was right a few weeks back.
As far as whether the other coaches are correct, I have found articles quoting their exact number of wins as they were retiring. They too, are on Irontonfootball.com
The problem appears that people in Ironton (HS admin, and others) think that OHSAA looks at press releases, or gets all game records and figures what records have been broken then OHSAA itself updates the record book, and that recently they have been asleep at the wheel. That is incorrect.
The top of the state record webpage states that the school who breaks a record is responsible for writing OHSAA with sufficient documentation to show specifically what category needs to be updated. An official of the school must write OHSAA requesting the record book be updated on school letterhead. I.e. if no one in the Ironton School system writes a letter to OSHAA indicating the update, it doesn't happen. That is why Lutz's record is so out of date, no one from the Ironton School System has written OHSAA telling them of Lutz's new wins and that they need to move him up.
I fully appreicate how humble Bob Lutz is, but it's really not just his record. Its' indicative of his city and the region that success is possible down south and the rest of the state needs to recognize history is being made and acknowledge it.
Last Saturday and Sunday after the Portsmouth win, I looked at the major Ohio newspaper websites, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Columbus Dispatch, Cincinnati Enquirer, Toldeo Blade, Dayton Daily News and nada. No one knows Lutz tied Malones' record. If they knew, they would probably be happy to parrot a press release with quotes, records, lists of championships Ironton has accrued with Bob Lutz as head coach. It's a great story, but a story has to be written and told to someone so they can repeat it. I hope people figure it out in time to honor Bob before his next win so the rest of the state, and indeed nation can share his accomplishment.
I'm really hoping the school administration is planning to write a press release about breaking the record, the Tank stadium history and the Tanks, Spartans to Lions connection to create a great story. Right now i'd bet the farm it won't happen.

Gotta good point there with Arnold, I can remember last year when we would stock pile and tackle 5-6 guys on him. and some how here he came out of that pile up and running down the field. How did he do it? I'll never know, But I got a bet Lutz and company already got that figured out. GO TIGERS. safe trip down for all NY fans.

Re: Lutz goes for Record (7-1) Nelsonville-York @ (6-2) Ironton
Don't "local" stories such as Coach Lutz tying the state record for high school football
wins get "picked up" by the "wire services" (outdated reference)?
Coudn't one of Jim Walker's stories on the subject from the Ironton
Tribune be forwarded to major news services, at least for reference
point?
Does the low-impact knowledge of Coach Lutz around the state
and country have anything to do with the low-key style of
the man himself, regarding records and statistics?

kantuckyII wrote:You also have the restaurants right across the river in Ashland. You just cross the bridge and then turn right. As you hit the Ashland Town Center Mall, there are many there including the Wal-mart mall you'll see up on the hill and you get to the same way, following that road. There's a Cheddars, A Texas Road House (both of these are always packed), an Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays and more. Up on the hill there's a a couple two on the same order, including an Outback Steak House.
Nelsonville York fans, you dont have to go to Kentucky to get a great meal. Ironton provides great meals and have anything you may want to eat.
If you are coming in 93, just stay straight and head in Park avenue.
If you want great italian food, stay on Park avenue and come all the way to second street. Melinis is your place. Great authentic italian food and beer and wine if you want that with your meal.
If you want mexican food, one block before Melinis, there is Toro Loco. It has great mexican food and again beer is available.
If you want wings and things, Buffalo Wild Wings is your place. You cant miss it as you come into ironton on 93. Top of the hill on right.
If you want a great steak or fish dinner, the Knights of Columbus is your place. A great steak dinner or fish dinner and very very reasonably priced. Cold beer on hand again. Come all the way in 93 again to 3rd street. (where toro loco is) turn left on third street and come all the way to 3rd and Kemp avenue. the Knights Hall sits on the left.
if you are into home cooked meals and you may not want alcohol or you want a more family environment, Peddlers Home cooking is on your left, just past the knights of columbus Hall.
As mentioned before, we have other places as well. The fuzzy duck is on the river bank on center street. (the shrooms there are great).
No need to take your dollars out of state, Ironton has great grub and great fun right here.
