Re: Power Poll after week 8 from T_FB_A
Portsmouth is playing some of the best ball in the area right now even with the loss to Ironton. They scored 28 points on potentially the best defense in the area, they would be a load for anybody at this time. They have definately turned it on recently and deserve their ranking if not higher.

The SEOAL is much stronger than the SOC II from top to bottom. You don't see any teams like Northwest in the SEOAL. And don't say that Marietta is that terrible. Yes, they are 1-7 but I would take them over some SOC II teams. Just like I would Chillicothe and Gallia Academy. Why do you hate P-town so much ?
How many 1-7 teams are there in the SOC II?
Its not that I hate P-town. I like to see any Scioto Co team do well. I just cant stand the fact that some people on here want to put them on a golden pedestal and they are a mediocre team. Jackson is a solid team, about like Valley. Logan and Ironton are it in the SEOL. Chilli is terrible, Gallia Academy (and I have friends from there who say the same thing) is downright aweful for SEOL standards this year. Warren had a good record against a bunch of teams with terrible records. Now you are seeing them hit the meat of their schedule and they are getting exposed. They beat 0-8 Belpre, 0-8 Morgan, 4-3 Pburg South, 1-7 Marietta, 3-5 Meigs (in dbl OT). JUST STATING THE FACTS! Dont get mad at me, get mad at the facts bro!
I am just pointing out the obvious. Maybe I have been a bit abrasive, but the last time I checked USC was ranked over Ohio State even after USC lost to Washington. WHY?? Cause the beat OSU, so they stayed ranked above them. Its amazing.....and common sense. ALL polls use head to head wins and losses to factor in where the rankings fall.

How can people be happy about losing to a rival team by 22points? I just dont understand it. Isn't Ironton weak in the secondary, maybe thats why portsmouth put up so many points on them?

Because anyone that went to the game will tell you this game was played much closer than the 22 pt loss. Ironton scored on a punt return, a tipped pass, and a 4&11 conversion that was the difference in this game. All resulted in TD's for Ironton, and I'm not taking anything away from Ironton either they beat us. But this game was played more like a one touchdown game and not a 22 point game. I don't know how many the Trojans would put on Minford but I do know that minfords D is not as good as Irontons. Tobias said it best Minford has never defeated the Trojans in a regular game. And as long as I've been a live not a scrimmage either. So now I understand why Minford posters always attack the Trojans it all makes since now. Good luck to the Falcons in the playoff we have no reason to hate on you. Your like our little brother we always beat up on you but in the end we want the best for you.

22 points is.....well 22 points. Doesnt matter how they stack them up.
Come root on your "little brother" week 11.
And I did root very hard for Portsmouth when they made their big playoff run a few years back. No hate towards Portsmouth from me, I just dont see eye to eye with some of their posters on this ranking garbage.
Good luck to both teams.
Re: Power Poll after week 8 from T_FB_A
Wow all I have to say about the "little brother" comment is 68-14, have fun watching minford play in week 11. When was the last time portsmouth had 3 straight playoff appearances again? Some of you portmouth fans need to realize that you are not as good as you use to be

That score was not by Minford by the way. Portsmouth doesn't really have anything to prove to Minford, and until you beat the big brother you will always be just that OUR LITTLE BROTHER. Good Luck in week 11 you deserve it.
Re: Power Poll after week 8 from T_FB_A
How can you even talk that much crap? Minford beat the team that Portsmouth got the crap kicked out of them by and kicked the crap out of the team Portsmouth beat by one point? You are living in the past way to much. If they would have played the past 3 years minford would be 3-0 against Portsmouth 2-1 at worst.
Re: Power Poll after week 8 from T_FB_A
Now I know why people on the forum laugh at your post. Your logic explains it all, the whole this team beat that team so that means they can beat another team. WOW! Every team is different on any given Friday Night, you compare scores to make your logic for teams that don't play each other. The Trojans don't play Minford in a meaningful game this year so it doesn't matter. Good Luck in the Playoffs. Thanks enough said.

I'm not trying to attack you but, how can you say that Portsmouth is mediocre??? They have a winning record. And lost by only 1 point to the "solid" Jackson team. Portsmouth is better than what most think.

What are you 13? Yea every team is different on every friday night but you cant argue with a A$$ kicking like the one burg put on portsmouth. I never once have put portsmouth down until a portsmouth fan decides to put minford down. I have nothing but respect for portsmouth and they have a good team this year. A good team that minford would beat. I am not comparing scores to determine logic on who should be where if I was doing that then I would have said "minford would crush portsmouth" show me one time when I have said that. I have said several times it would be a good game and that minford would win. You disagree and have made that clear(which is fine everyone has their own opinion) but then you act like a child and make insults to others and to a school jsut because they have their own opinion. Also, my logic is based off of seeing these teams play common opponets and the outcomes of those games. So once again go ahead and get out your round ball. Enough said

You say you haven't put the Trojans down one time until someone put the Falcons down (Who's 13). Look at all of your post, you've done nothing but put the Trojans down. Along with focusing on the Burg score and how that would reflect what Minford would do to the Trojans. Just wish both teams Good Luck the rest of the way and move on to the next thing. Good Luck Minford and Portsmouth the rest of the way.

Very well said BT;
Both teams are having good seasons and have fine football teams. Best of Luck to both teams the rest of the way. This Trojan hopes we get in the playoffs, but if not I will be rooting for every team in the area.
P.S. Great job on the poll T_FB_A it has people debating and is a great read each week. You got BigTime and mikenmike really going. Keep up the great job on the poll.

Re: Power Poll after week 8 from T_FB_A
OK one more time I will comment on the like opponents thing. Although I have given many reasons why like opponents do not matter, I will give some more reasons for you all since I can see that some of you still do not seem to grasp the concept.
First Minford’s offence and Burg’s offence are not the same. I’m not going to say which I think is better or worse. All I’m saying is that they are different. They run different plays, have different players, different strengths and different weaknesses. Therefore it stands to reason, that just because PHS struggled against Burgs offence it doesn’t necessarily mean that they would struggle with Minford’s. I think the Trojans match up better against Minford’s offence then we do with Burg’s. I think the Falcons would score against the Trojans and be able to rack up some good yards, as we have shown some problems in the run defense, but they are a different kind of team then Burg. Burg is more of a big play offence, where Minford is more about just picking up first downs .
On the other side Burg and Minford’s defenses are different as well, I’m not saying better or worse, just different. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses, again Burg's over all team speed matches up very well against the Trojans spread. In my opinion the Trojans passing attack would exploit Minford’s linebackers and secondary, because we throw the ball more then any team that the Falcons have faced, with the exception of Oak Hill, who scored the 2nd most points on the Falcons this season.
I also think that Minford and Portsmouth would be a good game, but I think the Trojan offense is able to out score the Minford offense. My prediction would be 35-21 Portsmouth.
As for the “ little brother stuff†I don’t think anything was meant by that, but I see how it could be taken wrong by Minford fans. I know what Portsmouth fans are saying, Minford was always kind of an after thought to Portsmouth when we played them. This is partly Minford’s fault because they were unable to ever challenge the Trojans. A prime example is one year after the Trojans beat the Falcons, Minford’s coach got on the radio and called it a " moral victory". I don't think you get any points for moral victories. It would be hard for a team not to develop a superiority complex over another team, with comments like that and the lack of success the Falcons have had against the Trojans.
I also know that some have said that Portsmouth isn’t what we were. You are correct, and that’s why these 2 teams are closer now then ever before. However as I have stated I think PHS, still has the upper hand.
Bleeding Red hit the nail on the head here. That they are awful for "SEOAL standards", not the rest of the area. Even BR said it SEOAL standards are different.
In closing I don't know why this always has to turn into a Minford vs Portsmouth thing. Both are good teams and are pretty close this season.
Also to everyone that has said to come out and watch Minford in week 11. I without a doubt will be at either Minford or Burgs game that week, and I will be at Portsmouth's if we get in, if not I will head to Ironton. I hope It's Burg at Oak Hill week one, the Oaks have a nice place for a playoff game. Then maybe the Falcons can have a rematch with the Burg, Oak Hill winner down to the Trojan Coliseum.
Best of luck to all area teams the rest of the season.
p.s. to everyone that gets all hot and bothered by my poll, I don't know why you guys let it bother you so much. Why do you all care so much what I think? I couldn't care less what any of you think.

I don't know if you are referring to others whining about my poll, or if you think I'm whining about others opinions.
To me looks like their have been people on both sides of this discussion, so either way you want to look at it there are obviously some sour grapes out there, but I don’t think I have done anything but give my opinion.
If I have done nothing else, it's clear that I have got us all talking about area football. (even if it isn't the most intelligent of comments from some

Bleeding Red hit the nail on the head here. That they are awful for "SEOAL standards", not the rest of the area. Even BR said it SEOAL standards are different.
Careful.....I didnt say that the SEOAL has HIGHER standards than the SOC II schools. They certainly have higher standards than the SOC I schools, SVC, OVC and others in general. But the past 3 years there have been 4 SOC II schools that have teams going down to the final regular season plays to get in the playoffs. I dont know of any conference that has put more playoff teams in the past 3 years than the SOC II in southern Ohio football
