this was a terrible game. belpre had no hope of winning. it was like watching an execution. i honestly hope belpre decides that they want to play football or just drop the sport. they had approx 25 kids and 9 seniors i think. if no one wants to play, just drop football.

Did you not see the number of kids on the sidelines in street clothes who couldn't play because of injury or illness not to mention the one in the hospital or just not there. They did the best they could with players playing strange positions and trying to do things they are not accustomed to doing. As long as they have at least 11 kids who want to play, they will continue to do so.They had a bad season this year but that doesn't mean they didn't want to play or they should drop football. If that would have happened every time Meigs had a bad year you would have dropped football a long time ago. You're lucky enough to have a bigger county school with a large enrollment. Belpre plays with the kids they have and will continue to do so and will do just fine in the smaller division next year so you won't have to worry about how they play any longer.Worry about your own team as they get beat by the other big TVC-Ohio teams

Good job Meigs!! Way to finish out the season strong!!!!!!!

Belpre!! Keep your heads up. You played hard all year and just had a lot of bad luck, there is no dout in my mind that if you guy were healthy all year you would have won some games. 0-10 is a hard pill to swallow but just remember that you never gave up and played until the final whisle. :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245 :122245

Thanks O and B,we appreciate it.Some people think that because we had a bad year and didn't win that the kids didn't give their all or try their best. These kids were constantly playing out of position and trying to learn new positions due to injuries and player ineligibilities, but they didn't quit.If they had all their players playing their normal positions all year, things would have been a lot different.I'm not saying they would have beaten everyone and made the playoffs but they would have won a few games. We will definitely miss the games against Nelsonville,Vinton, Alexander,Wellston and even Meigs but we look forward to building new rivalries in the Hocking and rebuilding our football program.Good luck to all of the TVC-Ohio teams in the future.

Eaglepapaw....

Very well said.

Due to several different reasons, we had players playing not 1 or 2 postions throughout the year, but 3 or 4 positions to try and put the best combination on the field from week to week. I hope everyone is not discouraged about football at Belpre. This year is over and next year will be here before you know it. A lot of old rivalaries have ended but new ones await. The one positive in a year like this is that alot of players got playing time on friday night that normally wouldn't, especially the underclassmen. Lets take a short break and if your are not playing a winter or spring sport, start working out as soon as possible not only for next year but to build good habits to stay healthy for a lifetime.

To our 9 seniors, thank you for all your hardwork on the gridiron at Belpre. Even from a season such as this I hope that you are still able to remember positive things from this season. I wish you nothing but the very best in whatever your future holds.

As always...

LETS GO EAGLES!!!

that's what i said. the kids out there played their hearts out. all of them for belpre wanted to win. the bad part is there was only maybe 15 upperclassmen. even in the tvc hocking( because it is made up of smaller schools) that won't do. the kids deserve a commitment to try to win from the community or quit altogether. it is not good when you have more seniors than the rest of the classes combined. what will you have next year? take away the seniors and you have about 6 out there friday. can you play in the hocking with 6? it is the kids i feel for. they played hard but you can't ask a coach to win with that few kids and you can't ask the kids to win if the rest of the town doesn't care. that's why i said drop football. clearly only about 10% of the kids care and less of the towns people.

btw mr b i wish them all happiness too. can't remember how many are armed services bound but godspeed to those kids.

I hope you aren't really a teacher if you can't count any better than you did in the first post before you edited it. First you said we had 25 kids which nine were seniors then you say fifteen upperclassmen and take away the nine seniors and we're left with 6 kids.Belpre dressed at least 25 kids last night, like you said first and nine were seniors leaving 16 underclassmen dressed or playing. Add in the eight or nine underclassmen who were on the sidelines in street clothes or in the hospital and you have a lot more than 6 kids. You know nothing about how these kids feel about football or any other sport or what the commitment of the people in the community is.They will do just fine next year in the Hocking with the underclassmen they have coming back and with the kids coming up from junior high. Worry about your team in the big division and the commitment of your community.

fasteach,
I remember very well in the late 80 and early 90s when I played. Meigs was the team you looked past and worked on the next week team. So for you to have the nerve to sit at your computer and try to make a mockery of Belpre students and our community makes you look like a fool.
When Belpre and the rest of the TVC was beating the hell out of Meigs did you all just give up? No! Was the community at times not into the program...OH YES! I know that for a fact. So why in gods name would we as a community give up on our team, our school, and our rich history? This was a bad year, no doubt about it!! It pained me so much to go to the games but I was there....and so wasn't those 60-80 year old men and their wives in the front row!!
You wanna look over the years at how Belpre dominated Meigs we can definatly get them stats. I then assure you that you would be ashamed. Maybe then as well you can look in the mirror understand what you say is crazy. Don't you ever get on here being who you are and say ONE darn thing about Belpre and our community and definatly SHUT YOUR FACE about our students and our kids.
I am sorry if I offended anyone besides fasteach. I am truly sorry but a nerve has definatly been struck. Fasteach you wanna mess with someones family...well you have messed with the Belpre Community, our students, and OUR FAMILY!!!

otterslide apperantly you can't read. what i clearly said was the kids deserve better.if i upset some parents, good. the kids gave 100% 9 seniors is more than meigs had but belpre did not play as if THEY thought they could win. this attitude comes from the community. yes belpre was once not to long ago a power not just in the tvc but in SE ohio. what happened? 2 years ago you won the tvc with this group of seniors. as i recall they only had 22 and no coach until august. the community has lost it's desire for football when you have more kids trying for basketball than football not the kids!
as for eagle pawpaw. i counted 25 but of those 25 only about 15 played. take out the 9 seniors and you have 6 who played who where not seniors and 10 who would be jv. that means that 15 divided by the remaining grades 9-11 is about 5. most schools have more starting to play in the 9th grade and some quit as they go until there are fewer 12th graders than any other grade. after these kids are done who will belpre have next year? 6. again as i have said many times this year. meigs played new lex last year in the play-offs. they had 20 seniors. that is the type of commitment a school needs to be really good. meigs needs that! meigs had 6 seniors on a squad of 45. you get there, not by the kids ( who want to play), but by the parents who are willing to sacrifice to make it so. i don't know the belpre community, but it is NOT THE KIDS WHO DON"T CARE! it is the town!!

both of you if this hurts to hear good. the kids have given a commitment to sweat their butts off all summer nto for themselves FOR THE CHANCE TO REPRESENT YOU.pay them back show up to the games. cheer for them. get on here and tell the area that belpre is great. there was 2 posters on here saying that belpre had a chance. 2. is that how many boosters belpre has? 2? you're mad at me but i have been on here every week through a 5-5 season, pro meigs to the bone, the kids on the field did not quit and i did not quit on them. it really bothers me when meigs plays a team and at the game meigs fans out number the home fans 2 to 1. we drive 30 miles and you can't be bothered to drive 2? again that ain't the kids. that is the community. if you can't get excited about football then do something else. putting these kids last when about 5 seniors are going into the military, which means they will have given 1/2 their lives representing you, is on you...not me

belpre football players i think you are great. i salute you. you deserve the town's support. you got mine.

Like I said "Teach",learn how to count!Eight kids standing on sidelines who played all year and at least 5 starters(Tyler Watkins,Clay Ullman,RaShawn Miller,Tyler Martin,Wes Hatfield,Nate Teeters,Robbie Postlewait,Brady Radabaugh)Underclassmen who played (Eric Waderker,Corey Law,Phillip Wiggers,Bryce Kesterson,Todd Packard,Jimmy Kerps,Cody Martin and maybe one or two more of the othr 7 who dressed(Joey,Mat,Logan,Cody L,Michael,Zach or Cody C). How do you come up with 5.I count 24 who were there last night who will be back next year.If you are a Meigs teacher i hope you don't teach math.Like I said worry about your own school and community,we are fine in Belpre.

ok here's math there was 25 dressed + 8 who did not dress that's 33 right? well lose 9 thats 22 divide that by 3 you have 7 per grade. of that only about 15 played on the varsity team the 11 out there and 4 subs who ran plays in. 10 who i am guessing are either 9th or jv who did not play until the game was out of hand.

is this the issue?

Gee Fasteach,
How did you all get your new schools? Not from your community. You got a state hand out. You need to stay in Meigs grow your so called produce. And stay the hell out of Belpre and our business. You have NO IDEA what the parents and community do for the program. Until you have one clue on what goes on shut the your face.
Work on your wrestling program...I don't see you all supporting that! Hell we whip you in that and we don't even fill all the classes...You all should drop the wrestling program. Now I know someone will come on here and say why you bring that up ....well keep Fasteach thoughts, ideas, stupid ideas to himself. Stay out of our business. You have NOT a freaking clue what all the community does for the school!!

You have no idea what goes on in practices. Who attendes? How many days they may not be at practice? What their attitudes are like? I have been there I know and it isn't all the kids but a few can spoil a bunch. So stop talking you are making yourself out to look as a complete IDIOT!! seriously ...go take a toke or something go tend your garden...something...lol

To Mister B, Eaglepapaw, and Otterslide way to stand up for Belpre football and the community in general.

To Fasteach, for the record, I am a transplant from the Waterford area but have lived in belpre for 19 years. I don't have any kids in the school system, but as many in the community know I support these kids almost dailt in what ever they do. As the General Manager of a local business in Belpre, I know about the support these kids get. If the community did't care about this football program (WE) would not have the new state of the art lightning system we have now. So, I, like those above, fasteach, tell you to stay in meigs with your thoughts about any of Belpre's programs. We as a community will see that our kids are provided for with what they need to succeed. I see alot of these kids as much as 4 to 5 times a week, they know that there is support for them here in Belpre.

GO EAGLES!!!

Yeah its amazing no community support however we can raise over 130K in less than a year. Erect a state of the art lighting, build a new science lab, and have alot extra left over to give to other school programs in less than a year.

To all other Meigs supports, fans, and students. This is not against the majority of the good people at Meigs. However, you do have an idiot on here from Meigs that is giving others a black eye.

for your information meigs has built a new ele and middle school and tuesday i hope they will vote in a sports facility. i have contributed time and funds to that ...but that's just me
