Re: Best Locker room Motivational Quotes
Several great ones that come to mind but one that my former high school football coach at Sheridan shared with some buddies a few years after we graduated comes to mind. The 04' gernerals were very, very good but they lost a game @ Newark Catholic they never should have lost early in the year, tons of penaltys and mistakes. According to my buddy he walked in the locker room after the game and told them the following, "in the wild when a pack of wild mustangs faces adversity they turn their heads to the middle and kick the heck out of whatever attacks them.....in captivity when a pack of donkeys face adversity they turn their tails to the middle and kick the crap out of each other.......which are you?" They went on to destroy the rest of their schedule and beat #1 ranked stuebenville and zach collaros in the second round of the playoffs and had t-shirts that read mustangs. Always found that fairly interesting.

Jackson's Shane Wolford was a great motivator! He always had the team ready to fight!

Re: Best Locker room Motivational Quotes
It wasn't in the locker room but at a pep rally in 1971 when Ironton St. Joe head coach Bob Lutz gave a speech then pulled out a sympathy letter from Coal Grove. After saying what he thought about it Lutz tore the letter into pieces and tossed them in the air. His team along with the Student Body went nuts and later that night the Flyers beat the Hornets 15-14 in a classic game.

"Perfection is not attainable, however if you chase perfection you will catch excellence."
"Pressure is something you bring upon yourself when you don't know what you're doing."
"If you fail to prepare, prepare to fail"
"Play for the past, set standards for the future."
"Impossible is simply something no one else has ever seen."
The first one is a Vince Lombardi quote. The next two, from old coaches. The other two, I myself said.
I hope you enjoy them.

"make them remember.....forever.....the night they played the Titans!"
Okay, well it wasnt in the locker room, but rather on the field. Good movie.

"IF" you think you are beateb you are; if you think you care not you dont
If you'd like to win but you think you cant, Its almost a cinch that you wont.
If you think you'll lose you've lost, for out in the world you'll find
Success begins with a fellow's will, ITS ALL IN THE STATE OF MIND
Full many a race is lost, ere enen a step is run
And many a cowrd fails, ere even his work is done
Think big and your deeds will grow, Think small and you'll fall behind
Think that you can and you will, ITS ALL IN THE STATE OF MIND
If you think your outclassed you are; You've got to think high to rise;
you've got to be sure of yourself, if you're ever to win the prize.
Life's battles dont always go to the stronger and faster man;
But sooner or later the man who wins IS THE FELLOW WHO THINKS HE CAN!!!!!

Re: Best Locker room Motivational Quotes
My senior year, JJhuddle provided plenty of bulletin board material. We really didn't have the "LET'S GO GET 'EM!!!!!!!" speeches, but a couple were good to read.
Such as a poster from Amanda saying we "couldn't stop the (player; I won't use his name on here) express". It was put on every locker, and under every windshield wiper blade that belonged to a player.
There was a few from Chillicothe in the playoffs, but if I paraphrase I'm afraid I'll make it sound like more than was intended to be said. Some of our seniors were great at using stuff like that as motivators.

But if you want a locker room speech that's humorous, look up Jimmy Valvano's speech about his pregame at Rutgers.

Re: Best Locker room Motivational Quotes
A couple guys sent me an e-mail and asked about the music that we had when I was still at P.H.S. when we turned the lights off right before the game and the story behind it. I got with Jeff Freytag who was the band director and we set down and made cds of the two following songs/soundtracks
the first was Orff O Fortuna if you want to hear it go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GD3VsesSBsw (we started at the 1:55 time mark running to the end )
and we also had
The Conan the Barbarian soundtrack (compliments of Skip Kyle) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IG-mDYw7EJ8 we played it from the 45 second mark to the 1:35 second mark and looped it to play 3 times thru...and we even took them on the road with us. Hopefully you could talk to some of the former players that were in there it was pretty cool.
