D4 - Region 15: (#7) Sparta Highland at (#2) Ironton

This region will come down to the winner of Coshocton & West M.(Who probably has the most balanced offense in the region) & Ironton now that Amanda lost their stud.

TIGERS90:I remember Curt Clifford and Portsmouth playing in the Semi-finals back when they had Jo Jo Parker and Micheal Hamerick...they were two out of the three best backs in the state...they also had Jo Jo's little brother I believe at Tight end maybe cousin...and a nice line...they got to the final drive with a couple of minutes left and they had only completed one pass all night...and that was a ball that deflected off the other team's players helmet...

They got down just inside the ten by running the ball 1st and goal....Clifford had the QB throw the ball four straight times for incompletions..while those two great backs watched it all happen...they lost the game...don't remember the score..but the touchdown would have either tied the game or won it for portsmouth...

Boy, I'd like to have been sitting with Biggdowgg and OzzieOhio and watched this go down with them

like wise, when Lutz decided ........never mind.....

i hope the fighting tigers are ready to rock friday, i said after the wheelersburg game , this bunch may take it all. they are very capable. but lets take care of the game this weekend first.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm just put up a compiled list of football stadiums and teams that Ironton has faced and played at all time. Something that is interesting is that Ironton's Tank Stadium is going to tie Portsmouth's Spartan Stadium as the stadium to host the most Ironton games (each will have hosted 13 games after this season) after this week. Kinda hate to see Spartan no longer being used..it gave Biggdowgg and Oz a game to go to in the playoffs

ironton. good luck through the rest of the playoffs. wouldnt it be great to have 2 SEOAL state champs in the same year? it seems like too much to hope for but both ironton and logan could make deep runs in the playoffs... i wonder if 2 teams from the same league have ever won state before?

Should be a great day for football. Weather.com is saying not a cloud in the sky and low to mid 60s. From what I've heard, Highland runs a full house T formation just like the tigers, so the ball probably won't be in the air much. Ironton should roll in the this one, but they have to show up to play. Go Tigers!!!

Let's see, once they reach I 71 [looks to be just a few miles], then it's I 71 S to I 271 around Columbus to US 23 S, to US 52 E - and EVERY MILE of the way is 4-lane divided highway!!
How many trips have all Lawrence and Scioto Co teams made to playoff games that involved travel on 2-lane Rt 93 or Rt 7, or that took close to 5 hours? That kind of trip is considered "usual" for us southern teams; but when a northern team has to travel to us it's considered a terrible hardship!!
