that would be great. two possibilities for a stadium for that one would be portsmouth of jackson. both places would be PACKED but we have to take one game at a time

I'm for sure it won't be Portsmouth Coliseum because they didn't apply for any playoff games. But that would have been a great venue and a packed house, tickets would be hard to get. Good Luck Pirates where ever you play.

I believe it is in Knox County about 45-50 miles north east of Columbus and approx. 20 miles NE of Sparta (the team Ironton plays tonight). Also note that Fredericktown swamped Sparta Highland in their 1st game of the season something like 54-20.

It may only be 53 miles and 59 minutes from COLUMBUS but is like 150 miles and 3 hours from Wheelersburg. :122249

If this game is played at Portsmouth that would an AWFUL job by the OHSAA for picking a site. Not that the OHSAA always picks the best sites for playoff games. But for Burg to drive 10 mins and Fredericktown to come all the way down to Portsmouth as the No. 1 seed Portsmouth just flat out wouldn't be fair. Jackson better than Portsmouth but still way to close to Wheelersburg IMO

if you would have read the post portsmouth was mentioned if it's a burg-oak hill regional final. IMHO the game will be in lancaster again. me personally i can't stand that stadium

How is a team that is located that far to the northeast of Columbus in the southeast region? What the hell is up with that. Why aren't they in the northeast region? Another one of those great OHSAA decisions???

I think if they were going to play it that general area it would more than likely be at Athens Peden Stadium just for the better seating, parking, and overall facilities.

Exactly right.... and wait 'til they do the "rebracketing" for the state semi-finals. They always get cute with that and can pretty much decide who gets in the finals most years. It's bullcrap.

Sparta isn't that good...so if Burg plays their game...burg has a chance...but they can't give up 40 points either...must play some defense....

OK folks, I just got home from the Alexander - AC game, and after last night's game, and the game that I just watched tonight, here are some observations from an unbiased observer.

I thought tiger90 was nuts with some of his posts about Burg being able to beat any team, regardless of division. Well, after tonight's game, maybe he's kind of on the mark.

AC is rock solid, big line, disciplined, and just fundamentally sound. What did I see that may be a weakness????

With their big back out, no standout players from a skill/talent standpoint. Lack of overall team speed, and no burners at any position.

Would AC be hard to beat, yea. After watching Burg last night, would they compete against AC? You betcha!

Glad I went to the game. Alex played hard, but was overmatched tonight. Learn from this and work hard. Coach Arno needs to get more kids out, and keep working on the weight program.

I guess that I'm a little bit skewed after watching the athletes last night. Burg will be fine against Fredericktown!

I hope you're right about being fine, Though looking at the Freddies record, well I don't see too many winning schedules in their line up of teams played. Thats not saying they're not good, just have they been tested like the Burg has?

Go Burg!!

Burg 44
Freddies 28

Neutron - I agree. I'm not sure that they have been tested too much this season. We all saw what happened with MC last night, having only two games the entire regular season where their starters played the entire game.

This is a problem, as it catches up with teams in the playoffs, when they are challenged and must play 48 minutes.
