Re: Congrats Jeremy Smith of Meigs: TVC Ohio Offensive MVP!
Again, don't take anything away from Jeremy Smith of Meigs. The kid had a great season and deserves a HUGE congratulations from all of us.
I just happen to be a very big fan of Arnold, and I feel like he was also very deserving of this award. He didn't get it, Smith did.
Congratulations to Smith, and I for one do not want any of my comments to sound like I am downgrading his accomplishments.
Sorry if it sounded that way, that was never my intentions.

NYBUX wrote:If you have followed this group of young men from Alex. you would know that they had great seasons from 4th, 6th ,8th and 12th grade. This is a great group of kids that deserve respect as they have earned it.
If we are to come together as a league and support each other year in and year out the awards need to go to the ones that have earned it. It has been said on this site that the difference between these two offensive powerhouses was minimal so why in the world would the league not want to honor both of them?
As for coach of the year, this award should go to the ones that win the league PERIOD as you cannot do any better in the league than win it.
I really want to agree with you but I think what caoch Adams has done at Athens is great. He has turned the whole culture around in a couple of years. Coach Arno took Alexander to the playoffs for the first time ever! That deserves coach of the years in my book. I like coach Adams a lot he is a smart guy who really knows football and cares about his kids. I am not a big Coach Arno fan for reasons I won't get into on SEOP's, but you can't ignore what he has done at Alexander.
Re: Congrats Jeremy Smith of Meigs: TVC Ohio Offensive MVP!
nelsonville is a victim of their success when they win the league, who is suprized? certainly not me. last year both arnold and smith had great years and both teams made it to the post season. a case could have been made for smith last year. it seems to me both these kids have dominated the league the last 2 years, so in a way, they are sharing the award.
as for the coaches, yes boston does great but in alexander's favor is a turn around of about 8 games which nelsonville certainly did not do( did not have to, could not if they wanted to). like i said give meigs the league title and we'll send you the mvp award.

NBA:
Lebron James = Better stats...(no title)... MVP
Kobe Bryant = Not as good stats...(title)... no MVP
Mike Brown = COY...(no title)
Phil Jackson = no COY...(title)
Let me guess NBA coaches are all against the lakers and their success? No.. better individual stats deserve individual awards and better team stats deserve team awards... and that is the case here!

It appears not only the coaches agreed, but so did the media panel that hands out All-District awards.
To see SEAN ARNO win CO-COACH of the year in D-IV, Region 15 was awesome ... To be co-coach of the year with the ALL-TIME WINNINGEST COACH in Ohio history makes it even more impressive ... that respect alone merits a TVC-Ohio coaches award ... if the coaches voted and so did everyone else in the southeast district for SEAN ARNO I'm guessing the guy deserved it .... Legue championship or not.
VINNIE RIDER - D-II defensive player of the year ... that's pretty stout considering he had guys from Logan, Logan Elm, Canal Winchester, Marietta and Warren to beat out for that award .... I'm guessing that backs up the coaches vote for TVC-Ohio defensive player fo the year.
DEREK ARNOLD - D-V Co-Offensive Player Of the Year .... that was one heck of an award by Derek, I'm super glad for him ... He had a TVC-Ohio trophy from last year so I bet he wasn't heart broken after winning another league title and pocketing a District Player of the year award again this season (especially since almost everyone believed Jesse Slone from Oak Hill would run away with that award) ... Slone was tremendous, I watched him carve up Trimble like a thanksgiving Turkey early in the year - but Derek Arnold had an awesome 10 WEEK SEASON TOO ... He deserved the award (I just think Smith was awarded the TVC P.O.Y because he had really good games against all six TVC-Ohio opponents) its really that simple.
Athens won the league outright - Harris gets it (Or maybe even Arnold)
NY won the league outright - Arnold gets it hands down.
Since they tied - neither got it - and Smith snuck in and snagged the award for himself. (which in my mind, I'm glad he won something ... He produced on the field and deserved it ... but what I like most is that BOTH ARNOLD & SMITH can go on with the rest of their lives and say they were PLAYERS OF THE YEAR when they were in high school on the gridiron.) ... That's pretty cool - I'm glad for both kids and they both definitly deserve everything they recieve.

Arnold is a great player and deserves this award just as much as any but i feel the right desicion was made here. I dont have a dog in this fight, nor am i trying to do so, just figured i would state my opinion and try and make a point.... Also crongrats to Rider, Coach Adams, and Coach Arno.

Could Athens or NY Win the TVC without Harris and Arnold?

The Associated Press just gave credence to everyone's argument for Arnold. Furthermore, Arnold is in the top five (as it was last year) for Gridiron Player of the Year.
Re: Congrats Jeremy Smith of Meigs: TVC Ohio Offensive MVP!
The TVC awards should be for what they do in the TVC games and district awards should be what they do all season. You were right that rule was followed in Smiths case. But saying it was proven Arno deserved TVC coach of the year cause he won District coach of the year makes no sense. It makes it look like you want to use both sides of the argument to prove your right.

Who cares? the best players in the TVC are actually located in Glouser. Right Rutters?

The only point about Arno I was trying to make was that, not only did TVC coaches recognize and respect the job he did - the entire district did as well.
