There answer is definately no.

Last year out of 700+teams, only 2 did not make it at 9-1 (North Royalton, Caldwell) That's about .002%.

To take it a step further only 13 teams that finished 8-2 didn't make it, which is slightly less than 2%.

No team that went 10-0, came even close to not making it.

I do not think with there schedule there is not even a remote chance of that being possible. But if there was ever a region that it could happen it would be 5-19.

According to Fantastic 50 (Website that has playoff possibilities amongst other things says there is a 100% chance that NY would make it if they go 10-0. http://www.fantastic50.net/index.php?pr=Ohio_Berths Scroll down to Region 19. There are plenty of other cool stuff on there as well as projected seeds its pretty neat.

This is the main http://www.fantastic50.net/index.php?pr=Ohio.

This IRONTON fan says:NO!
They are playing great & 1/2way through the 10 game mark are playing their best football in years, against quality teams.
I think they win out & do as good as any1 from the so called "Southern Ohio area" in the post season! Good luck NY!

I think the only team left that has a a bigger chance then not to beat NY is Athens and that still wont keep NY out of the playoffs if they were to lose just that game... BUT NY GOES 10-0

It all depends what the other teams in the region accomplishments. 2nd level points are going to be the problem!

fantastic 50 has them at 100% at 9-1, and 10-0

9W-20.9H-100% )
8W-18.0H-94% 9W-20.9H-100% )

94% at 8-2

They also project them a home game at 9-1 or 10-0 Gotta long way to go. lot of football to be played

I think yes. Newcomerstown in 2001. Also, for what it's worth, there have been at least 20 teams miss the playoffs with only 1 loss.
Newcomerstown actually finished 12th with a 10-0 record in 2001. That year, they were Division 4 when they have usually been a D-5 team.

Their schedule that year:
Beallsville (D-6, 2 wins)
Waynedale (D-4, 1 win)
Harrison Central, (D-4, 0 wins)
Tuscarawas Central Catholic (D-6, 2 wins)
Malvern (D-6, 7 wins)
Strasburg-Franklin (D-6, 8 wins)
Garaway (D-5, 4 wins)
Sandy Valley (D-4, 2 wins)
Conotton Valley (D-6, 0 wins)
Newcomerstown (D-5, 4 wins)

Had they been in Division 5 that year, they would have qualified 4th in their region. The only year they were in D-4 was 2001.

Look like its for sure they will get in at 10 -0, looked iffy when I wrote it, but now I'm wondering about 9-1 along with Athens going 9-1 and not getting in. I know some sites say its 100% that NY gets in with 1 loss, but with with a non conference schedule that has opponents with a combined 9 wins in 34 games, second level points for NY are going to be tough to get. If they slip up against Wellston or Meigs, then they could easily be out.

No, simply because the 2nd level points of Alex, Athens and Meigs even though they don't have the toughest schedules are a combined 14-1 right now and that will help in the end even if Meigs and Alex lose 2 or 3 more apiece. Athens will only be challenged one more time. N-Y at 10-0 is a shoe-in, 9-1 will be below the #4 seed (no home game) and could possibly put them out. (Athens, at 9-1 will be staying home for sure and Jackson could also be in trouble @ 9-1).

Nelsonville York will make playoffs at 10-0, with a home game, 9-1 with an away game, and possibly 8-2. IMO Grandview Heights, Ridgewood, and Bucyrus are guarenteed a home game, they should all finish at 10-0 or 9-1. Bucyrus has 2 tough games left with d4 schools,Ridgewood has 2 tough games left with d5 schools, and Grandview Heights still has 2 tough games with Harvest Prep who they should beat, and Licking Heights, but with their win over West Jefferson i think they will be in even at 8-2. If NY goes 10-0 and beats Athens who goes 9-1 they will have around 4.4 1st level points, but if they lose to Athens theyll have around 3.9. If they beat Athens if Athens is 9-1 it will give NY around 4.28 2nd level points for that one win which could easily be the differnece between 2nd or 8th in reg. 19 this year. You also have to consider the common opponents other teams in reg. 19 play later on this season such as, Valley and Port. West, Valley and Wheelersburg who can still sneak into the top 8, Wheelersburg and Portsmouth West, Centerburg and Fredericktown. Also there is d4 reg. 15 Northwest who plays Valley, Wheelersburg and Portsmouth West who could win all 3 of these games and ruin their playoff chances or could win 1 or 2 and give the 1 or 2 teams that beat Northwest a good amount of 2nd level points. Sorry i rambled on for so long, but to answer the question a 10-0 or 9-1 NY team ar guaranteed a playoff game but the week 10 game could be the difference between playing at home or a long bus ride. Ive looked over scores and added 1st and 2nd level points for hours this year and im about 90% sure an 8-2 NY will finish 8th.

Newark Catholic won't help much.I can see them winning one more game(Lakewood)with some luck they might be able to beat Whitehall.

There are some big point games left. Meigs, Athens, and Alexander all offer some points. If Nelsonville give Athens their only loss there is no way the Buckeyes don't make the playoffs. They might not host, but they will be in.

I think we should worry about this 5 weeks from now. Hopefully athens and
NY both get in.
