Alexander @ River Valley week 5
Re: Alexander @ River Valley week 5
Big One,
How will it help you in the end? You will be 3-2 going into league play. You will finish at best 6-4. How did that early schedule help you eventually lose to Athens and NY again. Not counting Alexander which you haven't beaten the past 2 seasons with your tough non-league schedule and their weak one? Not defending the horrible schedule, but just saying that sometimes people overrate how their tough schedule helps them.

Cavsfan08 who thought we would play Gallia as close as we did? It's called a measuring stick, Athens who is at the top of the tvc had a very close game with Gallia. It's a confidence booster for our kids knowing that they can hang with teams of that nature, now that they know that it's only going to drive them to get better IMO. I'm not knocking on Alex, they have a great coach and he always has his them ready to play but it's just that there schedule isn't getting them prepared for the war in the tvc.
Re: Alexander @ River Valley week 5
I would have to disagree with you again that you think the TVC is a war but that is another discussion. I agree with you that the schedule for Alex will not help them prepare against anyone tough simply because the starters have not played in the 4th quarter yet. But I am saying that I don't know how getting beat 14-12 against Gallia is going to motivate your kids more against Alexander?

If Alexander is going to lose 3 or 4 league games why are you all on here crying about their weak schedule? If they lose that many league games it sounds like the scheduled correctly. If I were a league opponent I would want to play an undefeated Alexander for more playoff points.

Re: Alexander @ River Valley week 5
Alex needs a test before week 7 or Athens is going to really pound them. All Athens done is play close games. Alex may not be a bad team, but they need to play a close one late before then or they are going to be in trouble. Right now their last 3 opponents have 1 loss.
Re: Alexander @ River Valley week 5
I think Alexander will be fine even if they get in a close ball game. They are a good team and a good program and now more than ever know how to win ball games. Alex will be fine and I anticipate a huge matchup and a heck of a game week 8 against Athens.

Coach Arno seems like a classy guy. Not sure he'd beat a team 80-14 on purpose.
Re: Alexander @ River Valley week 5
Don't think he ran it up but he did kick a field goal against huntington last year up 30 with no time left.

The _Big_One wrote:And that shouldn't be the case they should play better teams before they hit league play, you could give the same ole excuse like " well we can't help it if the teams we play are having a down year" I call BS! The caliber of teams you are playing are always on a down year, pad ur stats but it doesnt pay off in the long run. Take wellston for example, are we a great power house of a team? No.. But we play the best darn teams we can find and it's going to help us in the end.Dundas wrote:Last year the playoff qualifying Spartans beat a 2-8 VC team 28-20. Their first test will be against VC.
agree..wow Wellston has got alot better...

Alex looks good on film. RV will have to mix it up big time on defense.

Athens has a very weak non-league schedule. Nelsonville will run through everyone.

Need to check your facts, Athens 2nd level points are2nd in their region. Be a hater 78, however at least get your facts right.athens78 wrote:Athens has a very weak non-league schedule. Nelsonville will run through everyone.
