The Ironton Fighting Tigers finished 8th in '99 the year they were the state runner ups

That I know about..yes but..I'd be hard pressed to believe that this is the only two? could be though, could be. Usually, it seems the 8th team gets clobbered right off the bat and usually embarrassed that first game

St Henry won it all as an 8th seed a few years back and they almost pulled off the big upset on Friday before falling to #2 seed Coldwater in 4 OT's.

I looked though 2002 to 2008.
Seven # 8 seeded teams have won their region. One team won a state title.

2002 region 3 Massillan Washington.
2002 region 13 Youngstown Ursulin

2003 region 24 Marion Local.

2004 region 20 St Henry. State Champs
2004 region 23 Danville.

2006 region 12 New Albany.
2006 region 22 Norwalk St Paul.

P West did not win it in 2002. They lost the championship game, I believe, to Ben Mauk and Kenton

I believe mstangmom means they won the regional title in 2002 as a #8 seed, which was the original question in the first post.
