"We have no offensive identity"
Above is a quote from a GAHS83 post.
Never thought of it in those terms.
After pondering the quote, I agree with it.
After two scrimmages and five games??????

Would that be the same coach that called 4 straight passes to certain wideout in the overtime loss to Sheridan, when the fullback was running for 5 yards a clip?superblue wrote:Have no idea... Are you talking about the 2005 PLAY-OFF game? Even if so has nothing to do with this situation.... That coach has more wins over top teams than our present coach has wins,,,,,LOLGalliaGrad78 wrote:Would that be the same coach that called 4 straight passes to certain wideout in the overtime loss to Sheridan, when the fullback was running for 5 yards a clip?superblue wrote:Have no idea... By the same token the former has nothing to do with the present.

Re: Week 5 Ironton @ Gallipolis
It's a catch 22 if they ran it again and got stuffed everyone would be they should have passed it.
The coach thought he could get Ironton off guard and if the scored on that pass it would have beed great call.
Ironton had the box packed and the coach took a chance sad one of the two teams had to lose it was a great game and gallia has nothing to hang their head about they are a very good team and need to be feared.

exactly my point Mainac66. congrats to kids and coaches for being in a game that no one thought they would be in. It just shows how far the program has come in a short time to be in such a game.
Re: Week 5 Ironton @ Gallipolis
I agree with you Gallia is a team that has heart and needs to be watched for hate to see that next year is the last year of us playing them.Blue_Steel wrote:exactly my point Mainac66. congrats to kids and coaches for being in a game that no one thought they would be in. They are picking up Fairland the radio announcers said that the AD for Gallia said the series was not competitive enough to continue it.
Good luck Gallia this year and in the future.
Re: Week 5 Ironton @ Gallipolis
Much like most people I didn't think I would see a game that GA had a chance in the end to win the game. Nothing against anyone in our program, especially the kids, but just being honest. In any close game it is easy to blame coaching or play calling. We gave up one big play that ultimately resulted in an Ironton td and was the difference in this game. Along with everyone, I thought BT would get the ball with a chance to finish the drive behind the right side of the line that carried them ALL the way down the field. I'd be dishonest to say I didn't and still don't question that call. I will however say this..the changes made under Eddy put us in a position to win the game. The strength and conditioning changes have seen us be able to dominate the line of scrimmage, contain and tackle a strong Ironton team, and produce backs that can now break the initial tackle and sometimes several tackles on a given play. Credit of course goes to the kids for buying in but prior to Eddy there was not really a strength program to buy into and the talent level during that time was off the charts. Our strength was definitely the offensive system mainly because of talent but also because of an offensive guru coaching. Still 20/20 led to fans screaming about poor play calling. I guess my point is that we need to support the team and realize that no coaching staff is perfect but we can only hope we learn from mistakes and move forward. I have seen more talented GA teams against lesser talented Ironton teams get beaten badly so to me it is a step in the right direction. Take away one big play from the Tigers and we could have been watching a Taylor FG to win the game 3-0.
Hopefully the kids will use this game as a positive and move forward into the league knowing that other than Jackson, no team in our league would even have a chance to be competitive with Ironton going into the 4th qtr much less have a chance to win in the end. I also question whether or not any team in the SEOAL could play 4 qtrs and only give up 6 points to the Tigers.

Re: Week 5 Ironton @ Gallipolis
I did fail to mention that I was standing in the scoreboard endzone and anything outside of the guard gap on that last play walks into the endzone with little to no resistance and I am shocked that our QB didn't see the blitz coming and check off or semething, we have seen that same blitz for the better part of 5 games this year and just don't have enough hats to block it.
Re: Week 5 Ironton @ Gallipolis
JChipwood.........the right side of the offensive line was a big part of getting us to the two. As I previously stated, give the ball to your best back and run behind your best linemen.
If the pass play would have worked, I would have been happy we won. In the back of my mind I would have still questioned the play call. Others would have said it was a brilliant call.
It was a tough loss, but time to get ready for Logan. If the players come out Friday night thinking about the Ironton game, Logan will put it on us.

If I read that right, Ironton is GAHS's biggest rival? So now, the question becomes "why would a program drop its biggest rival???"

Re: Week 5 Ironton @ Gallipolis
I would say Jackson, Logan, Point Pleasant, Ironton and Athens are Gallia's biggest rivals in that order. They aren't ending the series for competitive reasons. That's just an excuse. I think the SEOAL teams as a whole are distancing themselves from Ironton for the obvious reason.Gray Fighting Tiger wrote:If I read that right, Ironton is GAHS's biggest rival? Re: Week 5 Ironton @ Gallipolis
They can drop Ironton just as long as Gallipolis don't beat their chest too much when they handle those OVC teams every year. This will be a win 9 out of 10 times they play anyone in the OVC. And just remember, you probably won't be getting too many playoff points by beating these teams.
