i've played in the trenches, its just a matter of how good you are at it. and who gets caught. it was easier to do when we played , you could not use extended arms for blocking, the ole flipper style was what was taught. however, as a short lineman, it was easy enough to reverse one hand toward a jersey and grab it, especially if your man, beat you, and was heading towards your qb. but you gotta see how the refs are positioned. more high tech. now.

It's hard to hold once you've had your hand stepped on a couple times.

From where I sat I saw tons of holds by the Coshocton O. This picture proves it. Hes got a hand full of jersey and an arm bar. There were many many that didn't get called which hurt us tremendously. Give them credit though that looks like a slick move that is worked on in practice and is deceptive. I don't agree with it but it helped them win. Wish the refs would've picked up on this. That would've killed just about all their drives.

Let's face it Ironton should change some of their blocking style. The Ref's let you use much more of your hands these days especially if they are kept inside. Not saying Ironton does not block well but times have changed and many camps that kids go to teach a great deal of hand technique when blocking.

Just a Thought.

There is always room for improvement. Having said that I would put Ironton's fundamentals up against anyone in SEO.

I agree with your statement but we are not talking about SEO I am talking about Ohio football. If you don't believe me watch the state playoffs you will see the difference.
