Ironton's Schedule 2010
Ironton's Schedule 2010
Now that Ironton is out of the league, what is their schedule shaping up to be next season? Thought I saw where they will be playing Bishop Hartley?

Re: Ironton's Schedule 2010
- 4 SEOAL schools
- Wheelersburg, Russell, and Ashland were on the schedule this year
- an open date
- 2 Columbus schools that will not travel well
I don't see the revenue going up as an independent, but my opinion means nothing.

This will be the first year as an indy. the revenue will be down from this year, because we had 6 home games. The 2010 Ashland game will be huge. Both schools should have alot of positive returners and that crowd will be huge.
As for playing 4 SEOAL schools: Ironton did not drop the league because of travel to Gallia, jackson, Chillicothe and Portsmouth. As a matter of fact, that would be a great 5 team league that would be a virtual toss up in football every year.
As for the Columbus schools, you have to play who is available in a one year time period. Ironton's AD will do a good job of getting ironton a competitive schedule that will generate good revenue in the future. As i see it in 2011, Ironton will be playing Jackson, Portsmouth, Wheelersburg, Russell and Chillicothe all at home. That is a pretty good home schedule. No, Chillicothe did not travel well in 2009, but with a new coach and new direction, they may be back two years from now. We all know Russell, and Burg will be bringing good crowds and with Andy Hall having Jackson on the upswing, they should bring a good crowd.
Lastly, I dont understand the negativity towards Ironton over this league exit. It gives the SEOAL a true schedule now and gives the schools an extra pick up game in football. Other than Portsmouth, there is no good way to travel to ironton from any SEOAL school. Logan should be specifically happy. it gives them a further chance to beef up their non league schedule in football and continue their march up the D2 ladder.

Re: Ironton's Schedule 2010
would love to see Ironton pick up another local team out of the SOC II. Minford or West would be a great addition. Coal Grove would be a good one too.
But since the open date is week 9 it will be very hard to get a good school in there to fill the date since most are in league play the final 5 weeks of the season.

Re: Ironton's Schedule 2010
Week 9 might remain an open date. It's tough to go independent these days.
Re: Ironton's Schedule 2010
weeik 9 will not be open for Ironton in 2010. Mark Lafon will get the date filled. Ironton will have 10 games in 2010.

Looks like a probable 10-0, ceteris paribus.
I heard something about another Canadian team being on the schedule?

Fuzzy, please dont mention that country up north, Paladumb gets upset when the Tigers go north to fill their schedule.....
for all the non-Latin speaking folks.............
Cēterīs paribus is a Latin phrase, literally translated as "with other things the same," or "all other things being equal or held constant."

Does he also get upset when the Tigers get just as far (mostly farther) than. . . well. . . you know.
^^^^ And to all of the reasonable Logan fans out there, I'm not trying to degrade. I know there are reasonable Logan fans out there who root for SE Ohio and the Tigers just like the reasonable Tiger fans root for Logan and just like I, as a CG fan, root for both teams.
I'm just a neutral fan out here in SEOP land.

I think the Russell series was just for 2 years so unless something has changed, we won't be playing them in 2011.

I heard Oak Hill and Ironton were playing next year. Whats the status on that game?
Re: Ironton's Schedule 2010
Phil:
All these schedules are two year deals. Maybe the game does end, but if it does, week 2 will be easier to fill than week 9. I was assuming that Russell was wanting the revenue long term of this deal. Goodness knows they left alot of money on the table over the past 15 years, not playing Ironton.

Kantucky II can probably answer this.........when's the last time Ironton and Portsmouth played the 10th game of the season? I bet it's been a long time since that's happened.
