Dont even think Jermon was up there that early. Maybe on returns. Kid must have something. Anyone see him play in Junior High? Will he be able to go at it next fall?

I watched him play in junior high, and yes he is a flat out stud.!

Ironton joined the league in a down period for their terms and still were very competitive. In the late nineties early 00's they were much better than Logan, joined the league and were down a bit, and now have a ton of talent coming up. It is a shame they left the league. Hopefully the gates get better but I wonder how much with many SEOAL teams still on schedule that evidentally weren't good enough

I believe that this year may be tough to schedule, as it is the first year out of a league..but with the way the point system is set up..it shouldn't hurt us like it did back in '83 when we went 8-0-1(beating Logan 14-7) and still not making it into the playoffs.....however..next season should be a good year as we start to get Belfry..maybe Desales...along with hopefully a creation of a new league somewhat similar to the OKAC..seems now that there is much more interest in the league than what there was back in the early nineties when it became extinct...We should do well next season with who ever we have on the schedule...then as always...what matters is the playoffs...and we will be quite rested...and ready to do damage...hopefully soon the state will work on making things more balanced as far as the private school vs. public debate goes..and help the schools that don't recruit to have a chance against the schools who get kids from eleven school districts..then you will see teams like Ironton back at the state year in year out as it should be...

I don't know about that happening with Kentucky teams now having late season district obligations.

It will become a common theme IMHO. Late in the season everyone in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia have league or district obligations. That will make scheduling a nightmare for Ironton as an independent every year.

I agree that they are and have always been a great team...however Ironton has only had one lopsided loss to Desales...and that was in 2003...I know they have seemed to improve since we played them last in 2005..however..Bob has never backed down from competition...it only makes you better..unless someone gets hurt...and that could happen against an ovc team...as it did this past season in the Coal Grove Scrimmage...(can't wait to see him play this year...could be a game breaker)...but going back to Desales..Ironton is 2-4 against them since 2000...I bet there aren't any other division 4 teams that won two games against them in the last ten years...for that matter Division 1 teams...

I know how to get your panties in a wad. As much BS you throw around to all the other schools I thought I would throw a little your way. As far as knowing football, you have no clue. I guess since you played for Ironton that makes you an expert huh?

What does the phrase "on the horizon" have to do with last year or even next year, many could interpret it as in 4 years...like when the 8th and 7th grade crew is upperclassmen. I look at you post as someone who doesn't know how to read nor make a conjecture as to what I was talking about. This will be my last post on this thread, I'm not going to turn it ino a pissing match much like you try to do in every non Ironton thread...with the exception of Logan threads.

He must be one of them there northerners that have them there big brains and wear them tight pants with the belt tightened up near his neck...we must have ticked him off some time while he was in high school when we beat his big brother in football...He probably thinks that soccer is football anyways..He is a football fan though... :12224   :122246

If you want to know about the Horizon Mr football fan...I have to disagree and anyone who have faced the grade school tigers would quickly let you know that the future tigers are not pushovers either..Both the 5th/6th grader team and the 3rd/4th grader team for the Eagles this season made it to the superbowl..The younger group blew out Oak Hill to win while the older group had one play that they were going for a touchdown on 1st and goal fumbled away the ball and the kid ran it back for a TD...they lost by a two point conversion 8-6...And Ironton has some of it's better athletes on the other Ironton teams...while playing against most teams in the league who only have one team per school...

Ironton looks pretty solid from where I am looking..the younger kids are loving football and winning at football, Most of the parents who are coaching the kids are former Ironton players who have either a ton of experience in the playoffs or state championship rings..while some were stars in the colleges that they attended..and now have kids that look like they too could eventually be playing for Coach Lutz on Bob Lutz Field on Friday nights...which is most of the kid's Dream... I think they are all wishing all they can that he won't consider retirement before they get the chance to be coached by him too...

Football is still very alive in Ironton..just come to a practice during the month of august and see how many kids are giving it their all to be a future tiger...I believe Mr. Football Fan will have a change of heart...

I have'nt heard anything new on Ironton's schedule for 2010. Hopefully they will get it filled, and maybe even come up with some games that would create some interesting matchups.

I don't care who is on the schedule. Just get the ball to Tres Wilkes and you will
win alot of ball games. That is one of the fastest kids I have ever seen. Also, saw him hurdle over a Nelsonville player last season and I swear he was in the air 5 feet. The kid is just explosive. Is he getting any offers?

According to irontonfootball.com Coumbus Bishop Ready is still on the schedule, and only week 9 is still open. It would be terrible not to be able to fill these open dates. Hope to hear the schedule is filled up really soon.

Here's a picture of Tres Wilkes jumping over the Nelsonville-York Defender.
