What does cage scores mean? I've wondered for years.

Alexander won over River Valley 45-32. Basketball was set back a decade with this performance. Ugly basketball. But a win is a win.
Go Alex.

Re: Tuesday 1-31-17 ...updates and scores
Fyi: a "cager" is a very old reference to a basketball player. In the "old days" (maybe pre World War 2?), fans were so enthusiastic shall we say, that a lot of the old gymnasiums installed literal cages to separate and keep the fans from the players and the playing floor. And, have read this also kept debris from flying out of the stands that was launched at officials, players, and coaches. Ahh, the good ole days...

Here is an example of that...Billy Hoyle wrote:Fyi: a "cager" is a very old reference to a basketball player. That photo is an excellent example 4thgoal, and exactly what came to mind when trying to describe it. Looks to be circa 1920's/1930's. And we think fans can get a bit rowdy at times now...
Re: Tuesday 1-31-17 ...updates and scores
Thank you both for the description/clarification. That's very interesting to see!
