Nw is getting a new coach and I think it will either be Coach Davis or Brooks Fry, I would love to see coach Davis get the job but if its the other thats okay too, but Davis would give it everything he had.

There are 3 board members at NW who don't really care about what the kids may want all they care for is themselves and their buddys. Im not going to mention who they are but thats the way it is.

The whole NW system needs changed From Basketball coach, Principal, Athletic Director, and football. The upper administration should be changed too the current system is not working. The Basketball team has a lot of ability and should be undefeated.

you know skimming through this "note" I said skim not read cause I can't stand to look at grown men and women bashing on high school students, it is pretty disheartening and sickening....but I digress. I have seen several posts saying these "serious" football players need to find another school to play for, and that honestly baffles me to no end. And I loved the game of football with all my heart and would give anything I have to be able to play again, but only for my Mohawks, yes the team that won 8 games in my entire career while I was there. But I would much rather be known as a pathetic loser then I would ever want to be a traitor to my school, my friends, and my community. Some things are more important then football, such as character, loyalty, and compassion.

Nobody on here is bashing students or athletes. I was simply saying that the leadership by adults at Northwest is lacking. i know I graduated last year and was screwed out of about 3 athletic scholarships. With an AD who tells coaches that it is not their job to get a student a scholarship it is the guidence departments. The leadership roles at the school os not there.

While at NW Scarberry has had a few teams that are argueably the best (talant wise) teams NW has had an he has failed to produce a winning season since he has coached at NW. I used to respect the school and I used to have PRIDE in our school now there is nothing left to be pround of.

By the way All Time Athlete I played on th football team with you for 2 or 3 years

Well im clearly not referring to you Mohawk, and I overreacted but sometimes it still gets to me and I understand nobody is coming on here and openly verbally abusing these students but they can read between the lines.
And im not going to disagree the school board has many many problems...... but depending on who you are cause im not really sure you know all this school board stuff and parents is only part of the problem. The biggest problem is heart on the field some had it most did not plain and simple

and as for Scarberry not being able to win with the most talented teams you have to remember the SOC2 is no chump schedule. And I do not blame him for our losses my senior year when we went 9-11 that was us as a squad unable to finish games the same problem they are having this year.

I honestly think it is possible to rebuild Northwest, if you take a coach with a lot of enthusiasm, a winning attitude, discipiline, and a coach that related to kids, even if he was the best play caller, someone they would love and listen to...and most importantly got kids in the weight room, specifically lineman...

Now I know they had Larry Hall and Larry Hall is one of the best Coaches around, he really knows his football, no doubt...but he wasn't the type of coach Northwest needed (now that just my opinion), I think Spears was a good coach, and I also think Thompson was a good coach, I talked to plenty of players that liked them...but, just think they need a fully committed coaching staff that got the most out of there players...Now I could be wrong, but the biggest problem at Nw is offseason commitment especially by non-skill kids...talkin about this is sorta like beatin a dead horse, most anyone could tell you whats wrong, and how to fix it, they just need a person that is willing...I think Thompson might of been the right guy, but they need someone that can also keep the board happy

The board is elected by the people...hold them accountable or find some others to run.

!973-74 season. 8-2 under head coach Bill Apel (Apel's Army). Lost to Wheelersburg and Portsmouth Notre Dame that year. Coach Apel was released after that season (too hard on the boys) and the program has been in it's current state since then.

Northwest is a prime example of why they need to have county BOE to keep out the local BS that ruins athletic.
Take 5 individuals for the BOE from accross the county and athletics would not me so interesting.

wake up guys.Until someone steps up and seperates the "click"at n.west all will stay the same. They"the so called big dogs"do what they want no matter who it hurts.Administration and faculty are suppose to be for he kids(all kids)not there so called picks.Coach thompson wouldn't kiss the"clicks" butts so they got rid of him.I have seen first hand what they do and let me tell you they aren't men if you ask me.People in the n.west district should get tired of this, but all they care about is what can you do for my kid. When most of the big dogs aren't even from the n.west district, you think they care.So much has happened and so much will continue until you get most of the community to wake up and make a change in administration. For the young men at northwest,i do understand why you either don't play or you go elsewhere. Why play when you hear and see and even go through what goes on every year.N.west has been and still is a laughing block for athletics(boys that is),mainly football.Just keep right on firing and hiring and just maybe you'll get another person to add to the"click".

Rick Scarberry went 15-5 in 2004-2005 I believe, lost a heartbreak to a Piketon team in the sectional finals, that I believe NW would of beat 9 out of 10 times.

Kenraken Ahta wrote:I think that we need to see Northwest football for what it is, and that would be a sport for the kids who are interested to participate in each year. Northwest football will never be any more than it has been. There is no magic answer and there is no building this program into a "winner" by any coach. If the kids choose to play knowing the outcome on Friday night and are OK with it, then let them play. Winning isn't everything now is it? So let's look at the positives that this football program has to offer. It allows a Northwest staff member to make a few extra bucks each year to coach the kids. No pressure, nobody expects you to win with this program. Each team in the SOC-II enjoys a week off each season with the Mohawks on the schedule, along with some good Friday night football experience for their Junior Varsity kids and an additional mark in the "Win Column". The home games are well attended and bring in some good money for the school, nothing wrong with bringing in some good money for the school. Northwest has an awesome band and an awesome band should have a football game to go play at during halftime. I am sure there are more "positives" here that I have missed, but the bottom line is, accept Northwest Football for what it is, and enjoy the "positives" about it, and quit worry about winning.

What happened Ahta? I thought you were Mr.Positive for NW football? If you have given up it's over for sure...

Thought things were heading in a "new direction" and then Coach "T" got his walking papers. Oh by the way, did you hear about the idiot that brought his gun into the middle school gym over the weekend along with his grandson? Yep, shot a few hoops then the gun accidently discharged and shot himself in the foot! What a place! Well, I'm no legal eagle, but I think fire arms are a "no-no" on school property! This turd bird's foot will be healing up during his little prison stay. And I'd say someone will be in a little "doo-doo" for letting old "guns and toes-ez" in the school with a loaded weapon in the first place! And you wonder why my positive attitude is gone?! Thank God I my kids have all graduated!

Take Care Slim
