What a game last night! Huge crowd, play at the plate with the game on the line and the Reds fighting for the top spot in the central! Lets just hope this is a long term thing and they dont flake out midway through the season like they have in recent years.

True that.....Arroyo may be the key....if he pitches like he did today all year the Reds will contend.....I like Gomes and Stubbs so far this year as well......could be interesting.

For the Reds sake, I hope Dusty doesn't ruin the fine, young arms of the Reds staff the way he did when he was with Chicago and how he handled Mark Pryor and Kerry Wood.

Now your trying to jenks us!

Really though what does he have to do? If the starters aren't eating innings then he gets the blame for the bullpen getting used up, If the starters do there jobs and eat up some solid innings he gets criticized for using up his starters.

It's a fine line but so far he has done okay with it. I agree he used woods way to much, and took 4 good years off or Pryor.

Not trying to jinks anyone. Cueto and Bailey have good, young arms. They both got complete games against the Pirates in the past week. Cueto had a 1 hit, 103 pitch gem and the next day Bailey had a 4 hit, 90 pitch gem. Both pitchers have above average fastballs and good control. The Reds have another up and comer in Leake.

Dusty rode Pryor and Woods into the ground while in Chicago. Wood is still hanging on with the Indians at 32 and Pryor is finished. In 2004 when Dusty was with the Cubs, Pryor and Wood were in the top 5 for that year of pitcher abuse. That is, being left in too long and throwing too many pitches. Most teams carry 12 pitchers for a reason, to spread the load.

Just my opinion that Dusty needs to watch his pitchers and their pitch counts. Especially, young pitchers, pitchers who have a history of injury and those who have just returned from an injury.

Dusty could take a lesson or 2 from 'ol Captain Hook, Sparky Anderson and how he handled his pitchers. Yes, Sparky took some heat in his day for pulling his pitchers too soon but he has a total of 3 World Series rings, 2 Reds and 1 Tigers, to show for his skills as a manager.

Again, just my thoughts.
