Angle has a highlite film from his Jr. year at ScoutingOhio. That said, there are problems with it.

Re: Any D-1 Offers for Logan's Patrick Angle?
In evaluating a prospect as a D-I QB, colleges look for
1. Throwing the deep Out pattern -- it should be a "rope" with little arc. Throwing rainbow passes indicate lack of arm strength & gives a DB time to run under a pass for the INT.
2. Throwing tight spirals and on target -- especially true on short routes
3. Quick feet, setting up and the follow-thru -- the "mechanics". Is the player throwing off his back foot, does he have good follow-thru motion with the arm, does he avoid looking like he is "heaving" it, does his passes have zip or thrown as a rainbow ??
4. Escapability and speed. Does he have pocket prescence and a sense for pressure ?
5. Is he a runner ( for teams looking for a dual threat QB) on an Option, Read Option, scrambling or direct snap for runs into the OL.
6. Does he avoid throwing it into coverage and is the ball placed where it shouldn't be intercepted?
7. Can he show "read progression" in picking out the open receiver.
As I have noted before, Pat's Jr. year would not have drawn much serious interest from D-I coaches looking for a QB. Had bad mechanics, threw rainbow passes and his speed would have been questioned. Compared with other QB getting D-I offers, the difference can jump out at you. Second, he had a better chance at a S/OLB which is not highlited. I note that my info indicates he is now getting looks from D-II schools and has an offer from an NAIA school. He might get a D-I offer as a QB, but he is not a top prospect. More suited to a conventional QB play and in a limited passing O using play action and a short pass game, not a Spread O.

I'd love to see a SR. video. My biggest question was his speed. The other stuff just needs a little tweaking. The better college program he goes to, the better he will develop. Some defensive highlights would be good too, I understand he started at Safety as a jr. and OLB as a Sr. How many int.'s and tackles did he have on defense ?

Re: Any D-1 Offers for Logan's Patrick Angle?
I can tell you I've seen a ton of D-I QBs up here. Its rare down there. The kid from Waverly who went to N.M. St. should be counting his lucky stars. Weak arm and if not for his height , would not draw any interest & not have been a D-I recruit. D-II, yes, where his real ablity is . As it is, N.M. St is a weak sister program, weaker than many of the MAC schools and he may find he can't play there as better players join the program. Best QB from SEO recently was Gregory from Athens and he rode the bench for most of his career. If he had gone to a MAC school instead, chances are good he would have started. He went to bigger, better schools where lots of good QBs were recruited. And didn't play.
The Barberton QB is a very good prospect for O.U. Quick feet, good speed, strong arm & good instincts. Not prone to throw into coverage. If he stays healthy , he may play alot down there.
Angle, in my opinion , is as good as Tanski was at Mentor who won Ohio's Mr. FB. But Tanski didn't have the strong arm for D-I, didn't throw spirals, foot speed wasn't great, wasn't a runner, and would throw it up for grabs under pressure. D-I's avoided him for good reasons . And, many coaches are also looking at JUCO QBs to recruit who have 2 years college playing experience already. QB is the most competitive position on a D-I team.

Pat's career numbers:
Offense:
Rushing: 271 carries, 958 yards, 15 TDs
Passing: 377-596, 5,112 yards, 53 TDs, 16 TDs
Defense:
159 Total Tackles (62 solo), 17 for loss, 10 sacks, 22 pass break-ups, 5 INTs
Started as a Defense End as a sophomore, free safety as a junior, and outside linebacker as a senior.
Paladin's assessment is pretty spot on. I do wish I had more senior year video - I think he was a much improved QB who threw a better ball and made better decisions. Also, I think he is as good or better defensive player than he is offensive and is a typical "athlete" recruit.

got some more info on snyder. over the summer he went to an invite only workout at west virginia. they worked out five QBs and were gonna offer two. snyder ended up third but was told if either of the two went elsewhere he would get an offer. but both QBs comitted. got an offer from OU. and from what i hear he really liked the campus and coachs and thought he would do well in OUs offense. gave his verbal. and later turned down offers from ball state and bowling green, and a walk on offer from his hometown akron. i know the coachs are excited down here at OU. he will not be redshirted. and at 210lbs a 4.52 forty and 3.9 5-10-5 shuttle rumor is he may see some PT this year.

Paladin and Locos, thanks. I would have guessed at 4.6 he is a little slow to play defense. Down here 4.6 is lineman speed, lol. I've never seen any defense video of him at all.

Fla is a recruiter's paradise. Down there , they have Spring football and produce kids with alot of skills & alot of speed, both necessary in the D-I game. I favor Fla. kids because they are better developed & advanced over Ohio kids usually. It amounts to playing football almost year round. And some players down there specialize. Almost every program in Ohio goes after Fla. kids, even D-III Mt Union. OSU, OU, Kent, Akron, etc -- check the rosters.

Re: Any D-1 Offers for Logan's Patrick Angle?
I agree, but imo its to the point where reputation exceeds the talent, just like Logan is in an area with a reputation of not having D1 talent. I see kids getting offers here who I think don't deserve it. If they have raw speed, they get an offer no matter how bad they are. Florida has many of the nation's best, but the Akrons, and Kents are taking avg. kids here while refusing kids like Angle right in front of them. The grass is always greener.

Re: Any D-1 Offers for Logan's Patrick Angle?
Mum is correct.
What do you expect to see on a "highlite" film ??
They are looking at the "real player, the successes as well as the failures. Its quite difficult to hide from coaches. All the "warts" come out. Even if you send out your best game film, your poor passes, fumbles, penalties, mistakes, etc show. A couple of game films show who you really are. And how you compare with their other prospects on film.
While most whine on here about SEO being overlooked, believe me, you aren't. You are exposed. All potential recruits are "examined".

I know it is not D1 but Ohio Dominion just hire a fairly successful coach, someone by the name of Bill Conley. Pat miight need to look at some small schools or JC to start out with!

Are you being a smarta$$ ?
I know a little about high school and college football.
What do you think I expect to see on a "highlite" film Type in any top prospect's name to youtube or scouting sites and you will find a 2 or 3 minute highlite video. Sure a whole game is better. A 2 minute video is to get noticed by anybody. Then somebody sees it and mentions the kid's name to a coach, who could then ask for a game tape. Its just more exposure. If a 2 minute video of him playing defense does not exist, nobody will see it.
serious question : I'm being asked by others, is he really 6'1" ?

he looks it.
YSU just got the #1 QB in N.M. (and the son of the Head coach at U. of N.M.) -- only 6', but greased lighting. Also had offers from 3 D-I schools. UNI just signed a Juco QB who is 5'11. While physical numbers might be important, its still skills and especially SPEED.

Mike Locksley ? Cool, I always liked him. Didn't like the trouble he had last year, hope he is done with that.
Pat is listed at 4.6 in the 40, but I liked the escape ability in the video. I'll bet he could go under 4.6 with just a few tips from the track coach.
Anyone know Pat's punting numbers ?
