This will be a good early season test for both teams, as both are vastly improved. I dont think either team will run away with it.

Yes, he came off the bench for coach jordan in the first game. He said in the paper untill he improves his defense that is probally how it will continue.

I think Athens wins this game...but i think it will be a close one. Athens has a solid team this year, as does Jackson imo. Both of these two teams should have a very good season ahead of them. The Ironmen can pull it out, but i think Athens will be just a little better..Good luck to Athens...The TVC-O has started the year strong...lets keep it goin!

Im inclined to agree that Athens is just a little better but went with Jackson since home court advantage has its own worth. Thats how close I believe these 2 teams are.
Re: Athens @ Jackson 12/8
IN terms of schedule, Jackson needs this win more than Athens does.
I look for it to be a very close game. Jackson needs 25+ points from the non-Newsome/Dobbins combo.

Flat just out played Athens this evening!!!! Out hustled, Out shot and a great display of smothering "D". They are very deep, not tall, shot the three ball well in two games now. Should make a big splash in the SEOAL tough road ahead the next 3 or 4 games. Keep it rolling

Re: Athens @ Jackson 12/8
Wow...that was totally not expected! Congrats to the Ironmen! Sounds like Jackson really shredded the Athens press tonight. Athens is a quality team and Jackson may very well be THE most improved team from last year! Look out SEOAL!!!
Re: Athens @ Jackson 12/8
Actually Newsome is the quiet assassin. Seems like your near half and seemingly he has about 10 points....but you check the scoreboard and he's about 17 and during the 4th it seems like he has a solid 16-19 and he's near 30. If he were 6'4 I don't think anyone else would ever get a rebound.
I've been watching Jackson basketball games pretty religiously since Pat Stevens was shooting the lights out of the furnace in the mid 80's. Tonight was possibly the best all-around most dominant game I've seen Jackson play. (of course we've been horrible during many of those years)
Defense was smothering.
And other than Newsome who was outstanding everyone else played well. Morgan played great defense, Eric Landrum played another high energy game, Kip Winchester has playing great in your face defense for nearly every minute of both games so far and his outside shot is looking much better. Andrew Christman and sophomore Luke Eisnaugle played well in the post. Senior Andrew Brown took the ball to the hole well and was very active on defense. Possbily the biggest individual outcome of this game was sophomore Colt Chapman...his 1st game he got some minutes and looked a bit nervous and then upon insertion tonight in the 5 spot he looked a little out of place....but then he did what every Chapman (boy or girl) in the Jackson basketball program does...he jumped the passing lane and went off to the races...and then again..and then made some good passes....and from there came the scoring as the confidence iwas there and he scored 9 points and gave some great minutes. He will be a solid scoring option as the season progresses.
And to Athens....classy, classy bunch of kids and coaching staff. Well-dressed, well-behaved and not even an eye roll. Very impressed with the coach. Best of luck to them.
John Derrow did a great job of officiating.

Wow never seen this coming. Athens will still win the TVC. Good thing we're out of the S.E.O.A.L.

If they plan on winning the TVC Ohio, then they better play a whole lot better than this.
