From what I remember they have coming back, they'll have to repalce the Center, OG, and OT. 3 o-lineman, so I'm sure they have at least 3 kids that will step up. I think the Falcons will be a handful again in 2010.

Don't under estimate how much losing a kid like your qb from last could affect this yrs team. Those type of kids that are 3 yr starters and leaders of your football team are very hard to replace.

I couldn't agree with you more, their not losing a some run of the mill 1 year player who started because no one else was there they are losing a person who is probably the best quarterback ever to go through minford and definitely the the winningest. He knew the offense, was a good leader and had above average passing and running skills, he was also consistent, if it weren't for him they would not of beat burg by any means those type of players take time to develop

Look I'm not downplaying Aaron's contribution to the Minford squad in the least, he will be missed. However, Butcher has also been running this offense at the lower levels for 4 years, so he knows it just as well, and is the prototypical Wing-T QB. He's a Randal-El type that could play and excel any skill position on the field. It's going to be his time to be a Senior and step up and lead this years team and I'm sure he will do just fine. He was part of an Ohio State Division II medalist relay team along with their wide receiver Lloyd, and Slot back Piguet. After you deal with those three, then there's 3 yr starter at FB Slone, and All State LB Gaines at TB. Trust me, Minford will be just fine.

Like many have said...If Valley puts in the off season work, they will be there....if not, it will be another 3rd place finish..

Don't know how summer workouts are going, but they do have several key returnee's playing American Legion Baseball and one who still may be playing AAU basketball. Time is very demanding on young athletes nowadays. Especially at a school the size of most Scioto County schools. Good luck to all and "enjoy" your summer - if that's possible.

I wouldn't count Valley out, they have a lot of great athletes in their Junior Class.

My pick is West this year because of all the returners but don't count out the Burg even though they lost some good skill position player's, they just reload (much as Ironton does).

1.West (bring back a lot of players from a solid team last season)
2.Burg (they are always in the top 2 regardless)
3.Minford (they have some good players returning)
4.Valley (they always have a decent team)
5.Waverly( they could finish higher or lower)
6.Northwest(???????????????????)

To early to tell but 4 teams have a chance I think and all have some question marks going into the season.

Waverly Tigers Game Schedule 2010

1. @Piketon-Going to be a really good game most likely both teams are probably gonna be working out some kinks. But Tigers come out on top. So (W)

2. Jackson- Havent heard much about them they have been pretty quiet but i do know that a lot of the sophomores that played jv last year for both teams are gonna be starting varsity this year as juniors and from what i saw at the Waverly vs. Jackson JV game is that Waverly simply dominated so make that (W).

3. Western Brown- Havent heard much about them heard somethings that might be rumors but idk so this could end up either (W) or 2-1. (Please Give Some Info)

4. @Vinton County- For the past couple of years its been pretty bad so i dont see why it would change. So Waverly Tigers (W) or 3-1 depending on ^^^^.

5. Ashland KY- We all know what happened last year.........ugh but if Waverly is coming off a 4 game winning streak they are not gonna want to lose that at home so either (W) or 3-2 who knows.

6. Ports West- Now this whole games outcome depends on if the Tigers are undefeated or not or if they have just 1 loss but overall with both teams i think its a toss up. So (W) or 3-3 or whatever else it is.

7. @Valley- From what i hear they are supposed to be pretty good and i know a few star athletes they have that will help them win if they step up, but in saying that i have heard that they arent putting in much effort in the weight room. I know that Waverly has been putting a bunch of time in the weight room and have been working their tails off, also they have a lot of kids on the team that i think are gonna come out as a surprise to a lot of people. So another close game but i have Waverly so (W) or 4-3 depending on the toss up games.

8. Burg- Now dont forget over the past decade there have been some pretty good games played at Waverly's stadium against Burg where Waverly has come out on top. I have heard from multiple sources that Burg is losing a lot of talent but they have always been a good program so if they Tigers are coming off a streak or if the home crowd gets them fired up i have to give it to Waverly. So (W) or whatever it all depends on the streak(Never underestimate the power of the streak and what it can do to a young mans heart)

9. @Minford- Now this is gonna be the game to see this year if the Tigers come in at 8-0 or even 7-1 its gonna be on heck of a game against the 2009 SOC 2 Champs and last year at Waverly's place i heard that Waverly gave Minford a run for their money. Now i personally believe that Waverly is coming back with a little more talent then last year(Yes even with the loss of Roback & Malone)the Tigers still have Underwood and Kretzer who were both BIG parts of the offense last year and for D this year i have heard that the Tigers are gonna have on heck of a LB Crew and Secondary as well. So i have to give it to the Tigers (W)

10. @Northwest- (W) No question.

All in all i think you should never count out the team that comes out of the season early with a winning season if any team thinks they cant be beat and really believe it in their hearts they are always gonna be a tough team to play. So i say that the Waverly Tigers could finish 10-0 or have a 5-5 season all depending on the streak.

I'm not saying those are impossible remarks, but I can tell you are a huge Waverly fan....which is good for you and your school! I would have to disagree though on a couple. I think a 5-5 year would be good for Waverly this year. You could very well end up with a 3-7 year, but that is the same with most teams. So, this post is not to bash your predictions. Simply a friendly statement to disagree a little. My predictions: Piketon (W) but those Redstreaks have to be hungry against your Tigers. Lost couple years has been heart breakers, but if history repeats then Tigers get the victory. Jackson (L) Haven't heard much about Jackson, but I think I heard they are on the rise. Western Brown (L) They are pretty good every year I think, but I will not be suprised to see Waverly 2-1 after this game. I do think out of Jackson and Brown, Waverly could pull one off. Vinton Co. (W) I heard Vinton Co. will be better, but I will give the Tigers a win. Ashland (L) just because I think Ashland will pull it off. West (L) Sorry! Valley (L) I think things will start turning ugly. Burg (L) Nope! Minford (L) Sorry again! Northwest (W) I sure hope not!

These predictions are not to bash the Tigers. One thing great about football season though; we will know at the end of the year. Good luck this season!

I'd say it's a 4 horse race. Should be another fun year in the ohio valley to watch some football. I see my falcons making another run at it, very tight race for 1st through 3rd.

Vladimir wrote:Right now, I see it coming down between West and Minford.

West: Has everyone back from last year and will be deep in every area, Pendleton will be looking to impress scouts behind a senior laden O-line.

Minford: Defense will be the best in the county. They'll have a young o-line but plenty of speed and skill kids to go around and that will only add to their lightiing quick defense. Minford has the best back trio in the area with Piquet, Slone, and Gaines.

Wheelersburg: Lost alot of skill kids and two would be seniors have left or are planning to leave. Shankweiler is their skill guy and the O-line will all be returning, but I don't see them being very deep at any postion. They better hope the injury bug stays away, if it does they'll be fine.

Valley: There is alot of retuning talent here, but I don't see them getting over the emotional challange they have with Wheelersburg. After that, they play West and then Minford, thats 3 tough teams to end the season with.

Northwest and Waverly will battle for last place.

Just who would that be? I haven't heard anything about kids leaving, transfering, or not playing this year. Is Whitley one of the ones you are talking about?
