Must have never seen Justin Gail play from NY... I never saw Woodson, Bishop, or some of the guys in the 80s or before, but Gail was special! Roush was a great player as well, but I'd give the edge to Gail!

I don't think the TVC Ohio will be as wide open as some are thinking. If you remember from last season, nearly every NY starter was a sophomore and NY won the league.......the nucleus of that championship team still have two years left to play together. For that reason, NY has to be considered the front runner.

And sure, NY did graduate a couple key members of the team......but what year doesn't NY graduate outstanding players? The names change, but the results don't. :)

Now second place in the TVC Ohio, now that is wide open! ;)

55buckeye98 I have seen all those players and they were all good ,but Justin Roush was as good as any of them. For the record I would have taken Woodson over Gail ,but thats just my opinion.
I think the talent level in the Ohio is pretty even NYBuckeyes96,again just my opinion.

Good Luck to all the Teams Playing in the TVC. We take a lot of abuse, but hey we don't care. We have a League to be proud of no matter what other's say. They have their right to their own opinion as we do. A lot of good Football coming this fall to all the different leagues we have here in the Southern Ohio area. Do we have a chance of winning a State Championship? I for one am not knowledgeable about Football to go that far, but I do like High School Football better than any level of play. All the kids work hard from all schools. Some just will better than some, and some will surprise us during the season. Either by not winning the games some people think they should, or winning a upset by a team some think you will get blowed out. That is why I like High School Football the best. Remember we are watching young teenagers play the game they love to play, or they wouldn't go threw all the two a days in the summer, or the weight room during off season. Those four years were some of the best memories I have to this day. I am just amazed at how different it has become since I played. I didn't play for a Championship team during that time, but it still was a very important thing in my life. So I can only imagine what it is like to play on a team that goes all the way, or deep into the playoffs. But I still like the fact at least I participated, win or lose. :122245 1974(VC) Viking

boilermaker, Good Luck to your Rockets this upcoming season. Hope the injury bug stays away. I am pulling for the Rockets to have a breakout season. Of course, when you play my Vikings, I hope for a great, injury free game from both teams, but will be pulling for my Vikings, just like your will be pulling for your Rockets. Too many people forget this is just a game between teams who players whose school district adjoin each other. Most of the players are friends with each other from both schools, so yes it means a lot more when we play each other. We all can remain friends afterwords and life goes on. Thanks my friend. :-D :-D 1974 (VC) Viking

Pss Just my opinion. The League Championship as it almost is, is threw The NY Buckeyes. I have yet to see them have a off year. They always just reload. That is testiment to their solid youth program. They are like the Spartans of the early Greece years, they are born and bred to play football.  No offence to the Buckeyes meant, I meant it as a complement. :122245

Thanks Fasteach. I just like to see all the teams in Both the Ohio and Hocking Divisions do well. Our two schools seem to bring out the best in each other. It is a great rivalry, and Coach Chancey is one of the best Coaches in Southeastern Ohio. He really likes the kids he Coaches and believes in them. I am proud to have him as a friend. Like I said on this post earlier, when you are dealing with teenagers, sometimes you don't know how they will play. . You all have a fine program, and could be very dangerous team to play at anytime. You all had the misfortune that some of the games, you all were in the game till the end. I look for the Meigs team to be very good this year. With Coach Chancey at the helm, you know he will have his kids ready to play come the first kickoff. Good Luck to your Meigs team, hope you all have a injury free year. 1974(VC) Viking :-D

you never know when a injury, or a bad grade, or a move, will wipe your team out. meigs last year had a key injury that killed our "O" we lost a kid wr. without him our qb had no one to catch the ball.
my hope is the season injury free and the home team gets fan support. here at meigs and everywhere good luck you guys and see you starting the last week in august. :)

Ny is set to win the league again this year.

@ WELLSTON --NY Will win because Wellston is just starting to get there program back on track.

MEIGS --Could be a nail biter, but it's at home

@ VINTON COUNTY---NY win because VC has a ways to go before they can be ready to compete

ALEXANDER--It froze over once and the Devil is P**sed about it! Alex gets a thumping this year!

ATHENS --Should be close but the Bulldogs won't have enough for us

Our 3 hardest league games are at home!

As I am getting the TVC-Web-Site ready for football - I have noticed one important trend ... No other team in the Ohio returns its entire offensive fire-power like Athens does ... The top QB (statistically) in the league, its top 3 runningbacks, its top WR ... Nelsonville-York returned one star RB last year and it was crowned the champ before a game was played; the BUlldogs return ALL THEIR STARS on offense and everyone wants to hand them 2nd place ... They did go (9-1) last year (the only team in the Ohio to do so) and outscored their opponents by a wide margin (besides NY) ... So to think they can't repeat that feat with all of their skilled players returning would be somewhat unwise. IMO

“Linemen are literally the unsung heroes of the game. Their situation is analogous to the infantry in warfare. They do the hard, bitter fighting for victory. As the generals reap the headlines in war, the backs reap the headlines in football. Yet in their hearts, the generals and backs know that victory and the accolades came to them through the work of the footsoldiers and linemen.”
-- Gomer Jones (Bud Wilkinson's line coach at Oklahoma)

Doug Chapman, Vinnie Rider, Tyler White, John Keener, Mike Martin and Reed Anderson

Derek was a very special football player and a great kid, but Ny will have a couple of young men who are ready to prove that they can fill that position.

Every couple of years Nelsonville-York loses a great kid and everyone says that they will never be able to replace him. Then someone steps up and does the job...This year will be no different.

PAINT ON THE WALL!

Well the team that will finish first hardly lost anyone. Nelsonville-York started a bunch of 10th graders and went 8-2 and beat Athens! Sure Ny lost Derek but if I recall, Derek had 10 other kids on the field with him last year.

Make no mistake, We will not lose to Alexander! We will run the table in the TVC-Ohio!!!

I personally don't care if any team wins the TVC 10 years in a row by running the table. All I want to see is someone, anyone (yes, even Miller) in the TVC one of these days step up and "WIN A PLAYOFF GAME".
