Re: CHILLI VS. PORTSMOUTH 7TH & 8TH
The 7th grade score was 45-34 Chillicothe.......the 8th grade was 51-46 Portsmouth......
In the 7th grade game, the Trojans had trouble with the Chillicothe press for much of the game which resulted in some turnovers and buckets for the Cavaliers. Our kids battled back to cut the CJHS lead to 36-34, but Chillicothe ended the game on a 9-0 run. Sky Oliver and Alex Dickerson had good games for the Trojans.
In the 8th grade game, Chillicothe was up 16-2 at the end of the 1st quarter!!.......but our Trojans just kept chipping away at their lead, and at the break the score was 24-16 in favor of the Cavaliers.......in the second half, Portsmouth forced a lot of turnovers and converted them into baskets........the Trojans eventually pulled ahead 45-30 only to have the Cavaliers come back and cut the lead to 45-41 with a little over a minute to play. Portsmouth hung on, though, for a 51-46 win to stay undefeated.........Alex Grashel had a great game for Portsmouth and Cody Stapleton was outstanding at point guard.......I love the way he can handle the ball........he made some great bounce pass assists.
Chillicothe has some very talented kids on both of their teams, and so does Portsmouth.........looks like both schools should have some good varsity teams when these kids come up in a few years.
I really enjoyed watching both games, and plan on watching the Trojans some more.......I feel good about our future after watching our kids yesterday.
GO TROJANS!!

Posts: 5 The girls 7th grade (1-2) fought hard tonight but lost to a very athletic and fundamentally sound team from Chillicothe 40-30. Have not seen this team through the years, but came away pretty impressed. Williams 13 pts, Benner 6 pts, Ferrara 5 pts, Jenkins 4 pts, and Osborne 2 pts. Next up Manchester at Home on Mon the 14th for the 7th grade only. Time to bounce back.
The 8th grade girls (3-0) remained undefeated with a comfortable win over Chillicothe 56-26. Too much size and speed for Chilli in this one. Phillips 22 pts, Swords 21 pts, Jackson 9 pts, Harr 4 pts. Next up for the 8th grade at Home against Jackson on 12/16. This will be the true test to see how good this team is.

I apoligized to some of my Chilly friends, because the 8th grade coach was pressing with a 26 point lead at the end of the game. I really think the girls had him so mad he never reelized it was that bad.
I know the 7th grade coach took it easy on us subbing a new 4 or 5 players every quarter.

Hey Ozzie, we owe you all an apology too. Our AD shut off 75% of the lights less than a minute after the final buzzer. It appeared like we were telling you all to get the heck out! LOL
It was nice seein you and Dowgg last night..........keep in touch! See you at your place for round 2.
