North Adams Lady Devils
North Adams Lady Devils
I thought it would be a great idea due to the great start of this team to start a thread on them. This thread can be used to update everyone on the team's progress and any news that is going on with the team.
It has been since 1986 since the Lady Devils have won the SHL title and with North Adams knocking off the league favorite, Eastern Brown, at their home court last week, this long drought has a chance to be broken. It is definitely an exciting time for North Adams Lady Devils fans. Of course, it is early, but a great start by the Lady Devils none the less. Let's keep it going ladies!!
This week has North Adams playing three games. Two league games with West Union and Peebles and a tough non-league game at Ironton. Should be an exciting week for them!!
GO LADY DEVILS!!!!

Re: North Adams Lady Devils
A great start to the season so far by the Lady Devils. What makes this team so special is 3 or 4 girls are scoring in double figures. Every girl knows that they can step up a make a game changing play (i.e. Laynee Davis' two HUGE threes to turn a 48-42 Eastern lead into a tied ball game within about 30 seconds)
Another reason is their defense and rebounding. Against Eastern, North Adams outrebounded the bigger Lady Warriors 38-28.
The girls need to stay focused each game (The most important game is the next game!!)
Hopefully more great things are to come!!

How many D3 girls teams make the regionals.....2 or 3
seems like it's been 3 for a few years
Avoiding Oak Hill as long as possible is important

Re: North Adams Lady Devils
There are 3 girls teams that make it from the Waverly District. With the 4th team coming from usually the Steubenville district.
I agree, avoiding the Lady Oaks as long as possible is important. They are an unbelievable team! But, we will hold off on talking about Regionals until we accomplish our first goal of winning the SHL. Then sectional, district, regional, etc. Our main focus right now is winning the league!

Yeah that is a pretty nice thing this year! Glad they decided to do that for the girls of the area!
Re: North Adams Lady Devils
North Adams traveled to West Union tonight and came home with a 78-34 victory. The Lady Devils were strong right out of the gate, taking a 30-5 lead after 1 quarter of play. North Adams had a balanced attack as 3 players were in double figures (Karli Beasley-19; Emily Fite-11; Alisan Sparks-10). Fite had a very nice stat line with 11 pts, 12 rebs, 11 steals, and 5 assists. Great effort by the Lady Devils.
North Adams' next game is Thursday at home against Peebles. This will be a triple header night, with a 7th grade girls game leading things off at 5:00, followed by the JV and Varsity games.
Also, congrats to Coach Caldwell and his JV Lady Devils on their 31-17 victory.

Impressive win for the Lady Devils. Hopefully Amber Grooms who was injured during the game is okay.
Re: North Adams Lady Devils
Another nice game for the Lady Devils last night. 5 - 0. Two more games this week. Both will be a little tougher of games so we need to continue to play well.
The Knauff girl from West Union had a great game last night scoring 21 of their 34 pts. Great game young lady!

Hope she is too! On a side note, Amanda Kamps, NA player hurt in the JV game, looks like she will only miss a week of action. Glad to hear it because when it happened it looked like it could be a lot worse! She separated her shoulder. The only damage was strained muscles in her shoulder and neck.
Re: North Adams Lady Devils
Amanda was playing very well to. I'd forgotten that she had went out with an injury (weak mind on my part). Glad to hear she will be okay.
Re: North Adams Lady Devils
The Lady Devils beat the Peebles Lady Indians tonight by 10 points in a game that was very ugly for them. They just couldn't get anything going offensively or defensively tonight. But they found a way to win in the end. I have always heard that is a sign of a good team. Play bad and still find a way to win in the end. The victory moves the Lady Devils to 6 and 0 on the season and 4 and 0 in the SHL. Great job Lady Devils!!!
Ironton is next up for North Adams as they will travel to Ironton this Saturday. It should be a great game!

Re: North Adams Lady Devils
North Adams suffered their first set back of the year as they lost to Ironton 57 - 47. Ironton was on fire today from the field and free throw line. They had to have been well over 50% from the field and they only missed 4 free throws all day and one of those was on a lane violation. The Lady Devils couldn't buy a basket today. They shot less then 20% from the field in the 1st half and only shot 24% for the game. I had to make a correction. Just saw the official stats. Not very good shooting yesterday for sure. Only 10 turnovers for the game, and forced 24 turnovers by Ironton, BUT they could not convert those turnovers into enough points because of the poor shooting day.
Congrats to Ironton on a great game today! Lady Devils return to action at the Holiday Tournament against Manchester on Dec. 28.

I agree! I think playing teams like Ironton is great for NA to get ready for tournament time. We have a pretty tough schedule this year. I think it is great because it will get us ready for the tournament.
Re: North Adams Lady Devils
The Lady Devils got a tough hard fought win tonight as they beat Manchester 61 to 49. It was definitely an ugly win for them, but as they say, a win is a win. The win moves their record to 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the SHL.
Re: North Adams Lady Devils
Very impressed w/the young Fite girl's play. Ugly win but as slamdunk said, a win is a win.

Her play was especially impressive as she was playing on a sprained knee. She is a special player who is going to only get better as time goes on.
Congrats to the Lady Devils on a hard fought win. Also congrats to the JV Lady Devils on their win earlier in the day.
Re: North Adams Lady Devils
The Lady Devils are in the McDonald's Holiday Classic Championship tonight at 6 pm against league rival Peebles. As always, this game will be a very intense battle between two teams that seem to have a lot of respect for each other. The girls from both teams have friendships with each other which is great to see but that is before and after the game. During the game, their competitive natures come out and it makes for a very intense game. I have seen it happen for years. It is always a fun game to watch.
In the first game between these two teams, the Lady Devils came out with a 10 point victory. I really look for NA to step up to a different level tonight. I would love to see a complete game tonight from the Lady Devils. Even though the Lady Devils are 7 - 1 right now, they have struggled in the last few games putting a complete game together. I think tonight is that night that they put it all together again to catapult them into the 2nd part of the season.
Let's Go Lady Devils!!!!

I look for this to be a very exciting game, as always between these two. Let's hope both teams are at full strength, play to their abilities and the refs stay out of it so there can be no what-if's. With that being said, gimme NA by double digits.
