Congratulations Portsmouth great 3 game stretch of wins. Very exciting game and hard to take if your on the wrong end, but thats why they play. Ironmen keep your head up because you are for real. There were plenty of bright spots tonight, however you can definitley play better and you will. Lets get ready for Ironton on Tuesday. They just beat Warren 70-57 tonight. Great effort men!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to the Trojans on win #3........and to the Jackson Ironmen for a great effort.......Coach Collins has our kids playing with a lot of energy and mental toughness......and it is paying off in the win column.......3 quality wins for PHS in just a week. Coach has preached to the kids about fighting back when they're down......and they have shown it in all 3 wins vs. Wheelersburg, Warren, and Jackson.

Forrest Johnson was OUTSTANDING for Portsmouth.......I agree with trojan7......it was the best game I have seen FJ play........he made shots from everywhere on the court......he has raised his average to 17 PPG.......he has averaged 24 PPG in the wins over Wheelersburg, Warren, and Jackson.

Tre Underwood and Wayne Evans continued their offensive spark, with 13 and 18 points respectively.......Tre is averaging 13.5 PPG while Wayne has tallied 14.9 PPG after 5 games. Wayne made a fantastic steal which led to a Forrest Johnson bucket to give the Trojans the lead in the second OT.......it may have been the best defensive play of the game.

Seth Bratchett came off the bench and played BIG for Portsmouth.......in addition to knocking down clutch free throws, he did an excellent job of handling the basketball and defended well. This sophomore's basketball maturity is growing quickly.

Portsmouth was without Isaiah Reeves and Lenny Collins for this game.......so it was very important for Seth to give us good minutes.......AND HE DID.

Jackson is a VERY MUCH improved basketball team........and I will say this right now......come tourney time, they will be a DANGEROUS team to play.......the Ironmen can shoot the lights out from the arc and can kick it inside to the big kid Christman as well........their defense out top was very good, and the Trojans had to work hard for their baskets.

Dylan Newsome put on the best shooting display since we opened our new gym in 2006.........and state champion golfer Morgan Dobbins chipped in (no pun intended) with some long range bombs.

Coach Larry Jordan has done a very good job with these Ironmen, and they will be a tough opponent for anyone in the SEOAL.

So if my math is correct from Dave's numbers above.....Johnson only had a combined 13 points ver South Webster and South Point?????? Can someone explain that? He had 13 in the 1st qtr and a half tonight and about another 13 in a very short stretch while being very tightly guarded later in the game.

Ironman92: Forrest scored 4 vs. South Webster, 11 vs. South Point, 20 vs. Wheelersburg, 19 vs. Warren, and 33 vs. Jackson......for a total of 87 points.......which is a 17.4 average.

FJ just got off to a slow start......he missed the final 2 scrimmages which may have been part of the reason.

What a game! These Trojans are learning on the fly what it takes. The coaches have their coaching points that they can work on, I'm sure. For example, At the end of the 4th with less than a minute to go...The Trojans held the ball for the last shot but when it came down to it they went too early. Wayne Evans went to the cup with about 8 seconds to go and wound up turning it over giving the Ironmen the last shot of regulation. That could've turned out detrimental but it only led to a miss on the other end by Jackson. Another coaching point they can continue to address, has reared it's ugly head a few times too many times all season and that is picking up your dribble. There are many more they can work on but those come to mind from the game against Jackson. Good luck Jackson the rest of the way, well at least until you meet our Trojans again.

I had planned on going to this game, but couldn't turn down a free ticket to watch OSU at the Schott. I really wish I wouldn't have missed this one. Congrats to Portsmouth on a great win. Jackson is a much improved basketball team from last season and I really like what they've been able to do so far this year. Dylan Newsom is a monster...he's having an MVP type season so far and I look for that to continue.

Tough loss for the Ironmen, but there is still a great season ahead for them in my opinion. Gotta get back in the win column against Ironton on Tuesday.
