Dundas - Yes, the facts do speak for themselves. HP knows that I'm a fact based, emiprical evidence type of guy, who has absolutely no tolerance for the anecdotal horse crap that you typically see spewed by posters on this website, and others sites as well.
Seems like the further south you go, you get the "I said so", or "my mom said so", or "blah, blah, blah" said so arguments out of kids on here who like to clog the traffic and make things miserable for true HS sports fans.
VC, and the TVC in general, have proven their mettle year-in-and-year-out, yet they get questioned and the league gets disparaged, annually.
TVC basketball, and baseball, produce pretty consistently. All you naysayers, bring the facts to support your negativity, and then we can all have a civil conversation about the TVC.

For the TVC being "the weakest league in the state", there sure are a lot of teams that have tried to join our "weak league"!

Well said!
By the way, congrats to the Bulldogs for their win over VC. Coach Skinner has the Dogs much improved improved in such a short time. No more "Jungle Ball."

Re: Athens @ Vinton County 12/22
They try to join so they can start winning lots of games because it's not a very good league. That's why we joined because we couldn't compete in our previous league with most teams our size.

For the record, I didnt say the weakest, just one of them . Recent years the league has been weak. there has been no post season success . When you start looking @ records against non-league opponets, well its obvious its a lossing record. Im not saying that there havent been good teams ,Vinton Co. in Basketball have been pretty good of recent. Nelsonville in football most years.Just think if the rest of the league was more competitive how much better the stronger teams would be.Again this is proven when teams play outside of the league.
If you take the leagues in Southeast Ohio and rank them the TVC Ohio would be mid pack @ best, and the Hocking would be towards the bottom lookig up.

After extensive internet and TV research, I have discovered the two reasons Athens joined the TVC.
1. It seems an Athens administrator had photos of Tiger at a strip club in Zanesville. Tiger paid AHS a cool 1 million bucks for the photos and as part of the settlement, Athens could not return to Zanesville (SEOAL) for 20 years or until Elin discovered his affairs.

2. NSMBC has released photos of SEOPreps executive Att Mash giving $50 and some used shoulder pads to the Athens AD in exchange for Athens joining the TVC. Investigators say Mash needed to increase the number of posts on SEOP's to attract advertisers and raise revenue for the hostile takeover of JJHuddle. When interviewed, Mash stated " hey- we were running out of dead horses to beat, can you blame me?".
I will continue to monitor both the television and internet for more details...

King of Kings you seem to have it in for the town of Athens. As you probably already know they did beat Eastern, like they should considering there a bigger school. It kills me to hear people talk about how big this school is and how small this school is. No one said anything when Athens didn't have the talent and was loosing to TVC teams now all of a sudden everyone has a problem. The object is to put the best product on the court or the filed or whatever sporting arena that you in. Let these kids play and the best teams and schools will win, everyone has there time at the top let them enjoy it.

blubomber,
Actually I like the City of Athens and a majority of the people in it. I do not like posters on here who will not acknowledge the fact that being a school of that size and having the financial capital provided by the University gives them an advantage of smaller and less wealthy schools. Your own post acknowledges the fact that everyone's object is to put the best product on the court or the field and let the best teams win. I guess what I would like to see is people on preps acknowledge that they could not compete against schools their own size and switched leagues to win games instead of working harder to compete against the likes of Logan. All year in football we had to hear about how much better Athens was in football with no mention of the difference in strength of schedule. I guess the truth hurts more than a lie. For the record I am glad Athens is in the league as long they can compete well against non-league opponents. For example, Trimble went 1-4 then won the TVC Hocking in football by blowing everybody out. That makes the league appear weak. I will be the first to admit that Athens is talented in football and basketball this year. They will be at the top of the league in every sport because of their number advantage over other schools. I am done talking about subject as Steely would say I am tired of kicking a dead horse. Athens will always continue to have to fight this type of analysis as long as they continue to be smug and pretend like their years in the SEOAL never existed.
By the way what does "loosing" mean?

Re: Athens @ Vinton County 12/22
There are 150 open enrollment students at Athens High School. Of those 150 you can count on 1 hand the number that participate in sports. Athens City Schools has a higher % of socio economically deprived children than does Alexander. 1/3 of the children receive special services. People that make generalizations about us based on what they think, and not what is fact, would change their toon if they were properly informed. Ignorance is not a put down, it just means that you dont know.

OK, first, GW, that was absolutely "PRICELESS", you must have been thinking about that post from about 4 am, until you unleashed it on all of us this morning. I read it, re-read it, and have read it a couple of more times, and just LMAO every time I read it. Completely brilliant! Glad to see HP appreciates it as well!
Now, Spartan, you know that I respect your p.o.v., and 99.9% of the time, I agree with you. I guess my only qualm with with your post is to "please share it all". Let's get all of the numbers out there in front of everyone, so that we can judge for ourselves. All schools, number of open enrollments, percentages, and how many special needs students in your school district that are going into Fed Hock's count of kids that need to be factored into the enrollment counts.
Also, how many kids that are actually being pushed into Fed Hock through the city of Athens selective "annexation" that in actual distance, are much closer to Athens city schools, but are in the Fed Hock school district since the city of Athens would not annex apartment complexes into their school district?
Not throwing this out to argue, but simply, as Readers Digest labels it, as "Points to Ponder".....
The arguments, one way or another, have alot of dynamics to them, that most folks don't realize, or understand. Just trying to bring some of these to the forefront, that's all........
Happy New Year, friends!!!!!!!!!

If its such a weak league then why is it that if a team wins over Athens, Alexander, or Vinton County its considered a "quality win"?
