Fairland 10 Portsmouth 0!!!!!!! Portsmouth only batted three players every inning, played 6. Dragons came to play. hit the ball and Thackston pitched a GREAT game. 11 strikeouts, 1 hit and 1 hit batter. both times runners got on, Dragons pulled a double play. Good job Dragons!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to the Portsmouth Trojan baseball team, Coach John Tipton and all of the assistant coaches...on 16 good wins in 2010!!!! It has been fun to watch this team this year. Good Luck to the graduating Seniors, and to the rest of the team coming back next year..take what you've done and what you have learned this season....and build on it for next year. With the talented Jr. class ( going to be SENIORS in 2011) that you have this team should be fun to watch next year too.

Considering the fact that they only won 4 games last year, had 3 key injuries including probable #2 pitcher in Coakley, possible starting catcher in Gibson, and last years starting third basemen in Horsley, had their starting first baseman gone for 2 weeks in the middle of the season due to a school field trip, and an entirely new coaching staff I think the season was a success. However, the program needs to get the mindset back that 20 win seasons and deep tourney runs are the expected. Anything less is a disappointment. If the guys play this summer and continue working hard this offseason they have an opportunity to be a very good team next year.
