Prior to that year I believe Piketon had their own holiday tourney.
Waverly had one that chillicothe and SE used to play in.

I believe he would he is a great pg and very good basketball IQ. But it take's all 5 player's just not 1 to have heart. I see bout maybe 2 from piketon play like it's there last. I seen about 4 come out and leave it all from eastern... Just good Luck for both teams

I would not say "alot." But...it is safe to say that many of the best players Piketon has ever had were Eastern's players.

Sorry...I have seen Huntington and was not impressed. I would say they would be lucky to get 3rd in the SOC1. With the SVC being down this season, Huntington may end up with second place in the SVC.

I can promise you this...Piketon with or without Southworth will show up to play...with that being said, it is silly to even think Piketon is taking Eastern lightly. Throw all records away, throw anything that you consider "bulletin board" material away, throw conference stuff away...if you aren't ready to play in this tournament, you'll get beat..simple as that.

With that being said, hoping Piketon can 3-peat! Better get there early on Monday..should be a full house!

Even with Southworth, anyone that thinks Waverly isnt the favorite hasnt been following Pike County basketball! lol The Tigers have beaten Chesapeake and Wheelersburg already this season, no small feat considering many were picking these two teams to be at the top of D III this season. Good luck to all, but especially Piketon, Lets Go Streaks!

Waverly has 2 players that will end up playing at the next level in basketball, and 1 that is already committed at the next level in football. They are 6'6", 6'5" and 6'4" with now a solid point and two supporting guard players. Piketon also has talent, along with Eastern, but Waverly is IMO the team to beat. The Piketon vs. Eastern game will look like the Eastern and Piketon teams of old, running and gunning with whomever can score the most winning! lol

Couple Questions:
Has it ever been done to have one school win the tourny three years in a row? If not, Piketon will be playing for some History.

And Why is this tourny not on the weekend? I would think just from a pure monetary standpoint that you would benefit more from having this tournament on a weekend?

wow eagles... thought you was describing Piketon (minus height, upgrade point). I am anxious to see Miller play, don't believe I have ever watched him. Should be a dandy tourny.

bobby k,
The tournament is scheduled around Christmas. You can't have it on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day and you want a day in between games. The best days this year happened to be Monday and Wednesday. I really don't think that will detour the attendance.

Not sure if this helps any, but their starting lineup consists of 5'10, 6', 6'2, 6'3 and 6'5. The can go 7 deep. Occasionally Fitch will bring in the 8th and 9th man. They spread the ball around and the scoring as well. Their best asset is their defense. So far they have played 3 games. They have wins over Western 78-55, Minford 67-48, and Notre Dame 58-26. The best team they have played so far is Minford. Looking forward to see how they do against Piketon. A lot of fans believe they have the talent and ability to compete and possibly win. Hoping to have a great game.

Yeah this year they have some talent and there D is the key to winning there game's this year. I have not seen an Eastern Team play this hard in awhile. With there line up it's going to come down to the wire. they have a few great shooter's to help there Offense out. There inside came consit's of Kole Wheeler Very good Post player Quick with the post move. If they work the ball in and out they are Dangerous from outside shooting.

"WHY".....Please don't deprive us of your basketball knowledge and provide some supporting or opinionated statements to your thoughts. I admire your team support, but for the sake of discussion and debate, elaborate a little bit.

I agree with you though......Waverly has a good team and has been playing well and should contend for the title. They have a favorable match up in the first game against Western and will more than likely advance to the championship game. Western is a team that will play scrappy and hard nosed for four quarters, so I am not speculating or assuming a free pass for the Tigers.

This tourney has been stage to many great games and I am hoping that the trend continues. The fans are great and the spirit of good sportsmanship and county pride really comes to light during this event.
