all I can say is,WOW

These officials come from the local association (NEKBOA), they referee in the 16th region in ky. The officials at the Elem school all have done 7th/8th up to JV games. The officials at the other 2 gyms, some have also done varsity games. I agree with alot of the comments most of you have, it is not very often that everyone agrees with the way the games are officiated, that is at all levels. With that being said though, I was not satisfied with some of the officials that we had and will try to improve that for the next tournaments. I believe that most of your good tournaments is a reflection of your officials, that is why I am always trying to get the best officials possible. As I said before, increasing the number of teams and some of the better officials doing makeup games had an impact on the quality of officials. I am not talking about all of them, most that we had were good officials and have officiated several years in our tournament.

I have been to several youth tournament in the last couple of months, and the officiating has been about the same at all of them.............below average. As a parent or coach you have to realize that for the most part you aren't going to get great officiating at these youth tournaments. If you are a good referee, you aren't spending 12 hours of your Saturday at one of these little tournaments.......you will be doing a JV or Varsity game that night.

Totally understand what you might be saying...youth...and I too expect below average..in these games..however a couple of the officials actually started mouthing people in the crowd during the games...and didn't even stop the games sometimes while they were doing it..they called one lady an idiot in front of her 3, 4 and 9 year old boys...not just once but three times...another one started an argument with a man that hadn't done anything..in front of his four kids...it wasn't all about officiating..it was about the way they handled themselves..when I am officiating, I know enough to turn my back on the people in the crowd, unless they are either causing harm to the players or causing a distraction to the game. I didn't expect great officials..granted...however..I did expect better than that...The poor calls were the least of my worries...although...the calls were continuously poor throughout the tourney...and were rampant...but as the gentleman said...it was a tough year to get officials..and he did his best...and he will try to do better next year...no one could ask anymore from him...The people helping out were great..and too quite appalled at some of the outbursts from the officials..one official actually came over to the gentleman with the four kids and apologized for the behavior of the other official...it was bad...
