Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
The Colts played all of week #14 in a very hard hitting game with nothing to play for....played 1/2 of the week 15 game and then completely laid down with the lead to screw up the entire AFC playoffs....then in week 16 after GIVING away the undefeated opportunity in a severe snowstorm play Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne throwing each screen passes until both players reached 100 receptions....with Peyton Manning throwing the ball of course.
It's just done at all levels for all different reasons.
And again....I will promise you sparky isn't a NA fan/person. lol

Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
Yeah....if I'm coaching the losing team and my main players are still in, you just can't complain about the other team's players.....IF it was a problem and it bothered me as a coach I would pull my starters off before the other coach as IF I were the other coach I would be embarrassed a bit the losing team cleared their bench first.

I do, however, agree with you in that there is rarely a team that tells their best scorer to "hold back"- don't shoot or I'm going to take you out. The best player on a team is left in the game to get theirs- that is "perk" to being a scorer- scoring points is what wins games. No coach is going to take out the player who scores those points. HOWEVER, I believe there are coaches who try to please people, families, other coaches, and players. I could tell you tons of people (parents) who have called to a coach to complain that their kid wasn't getting enough playing time, and sure enough, the next game they are starting, playing more, sub'd earlier in the game.
hero, read what i said, I am making NO CLAIM as to sparky's IDENTITY stop leaving foolish posts, and to put this ridiculous argument to rest sparky just state whether you are or aren't a north adams fan? simple as that, and if were all such good buddies and everyone else is ignorant why even post on here if you can just talk to them at the next game??
luvit, your not really a loser i guess lol just thought it sounded funny, and me joining dec. 30th has absolutely nothing to do with me not being on in a while
and to my dearest jchitwood,
I for one greatly appreciate all of the countless hours you have spent compiling those stats and adding them to your website, I know firsthand you and Josh work on that stuff all the time. I think that may be the only nice thing I have to say to anyone on here

Yes! you're welcome
Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
I have no clue who sparky is, but since sparky has apparently won a lot of games, I bet it's Sparky Anderson.
Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
No problem Jimmy! Oh wait there I go claiming everyone's identity!! Silly me lol
Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
I'm glad you could tell what my name's supposed to mean though. I wasn't sure how many people caught it.
Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
When is the last time Peebles had two players that scored 1000 points on the same team?
Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
Well, if you mean players with a total of 1,000 points:
Ralph Turley (1054) & Bobby Huffman (1484) in 1956.
If you mean any player who would eventually go on to score 1,000:
Brian Justice (1012) & Kelly Copeland (1060) in 1981.
Also, it's worth mentioning that Joe Ryan (1013) and Chuck Johnson (908) played together in 1973. Chuck was first-team all state but never hit a thousand points because he missed a few games with an injury.

The boys (other than Justice) were mixed in an out all night long and out of the game at the 3 minute mark other than Countryman who was in to help handle the basketball. You do not take everyone completely out of the game at the start of the 4th up by 20, the lead gradually got bigger as the period progressed.
Let's flip the scnario and say that Peebles was down by 40. You guys would all be b**ching!

Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
While we're on the topic, there are a lot of things that would make the SHL look better, one that comes to mind would be for coaches to not try and beat teams by 30 or 40 by keeping in 3 or 4 starters and pressing into the late 4th either. Just an idea since you're concerned about the reputation of the SHL.
This a quote that shl junkie wrote on last year's subject of north adams dominance over peebles.I guess we are kind of on the same page after all shl junkie. Thanks for the support.

Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
Let us please stop discussing this topic. Every year a different team is in the position to run the score up on the weaker teams. In 10 or 20 years West Union and some of the other lower ranked teams might be doing the same thing to Peebles and North Adams that the aforementioned teams did to them recently. It is a vicious cycle and these teams will get the oppurtunity to pay each other back in the future so lets move on to more important matters.

Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
Tribe, I absolutely agree. It is time to put this issue to rest. There isn't one person on this forum who can say that if their team was in the position Peebles is in (having great scorers or boys trying to get to 1000 points), or other SHL teams that have been at the top, that we wouldn't want our teams to put a hurting on other teams. If you find yourselves sitting in the stands at a ballgame wishing the coach would take out players who score, then you aren't competitive and shouldn't be sitting in the stands in the first place! TO REST!!
However, followthru, great post. It's time someone silenced junkie!

Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
Why the ganging up on junkie? I actually agree with you guys but I'm not sure that was an exact quote...no quotation marks. You aren't going to silence junkie....I'm not someone who pretends to be a fan then proceeds to bash my team, the players or the coaches and yes, I will express my opinions and have no problem pointing out stupid statements and calling to the carpet people who want to hide behind their names with their axes to grind all the while pretending to be a fan.
Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
I think everyone needs to remember that while it's fine to have your opinions.....kids/student athletes read these forums all the time. The last thing they need to see follow thru is comments like "pad them stats" and "maybe they are trying to get more college looks at certain players"...well you'd have to be an idiot to not figure out what or who you are talking about. Funny, none of the players on that team feel that way....when one of the players on their team accomplishes something I can guarantee you the rest of the team are in full support.....funny what kids can teach adults about life, respect for others and true sportsmanship and while we are at it, character. These kids don't need fans who say they support them but talk out of both sides of their mouths.

I am pretty sure this is a forum that asks you to create a username- so aren't we all hiding behind our username? Or maybe your real name is shljunkie.......? And you're right, you have no problems "pointing out stupid statements". Are these statements really stupid, or are they just ones that you don't agree with? I forgot, we aren't allowed to have our own opinions on here when we have the "forum police" monitoring what we say.
Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
I've been posting SHL standings and a few youtube clips from this season on a regular basis on www.wearetheindians.org.
Re: Peebles HS! What are u thinking?
it is amazing how many new people jump on the bandwagon when a team is doing well and how we don't hear much from other posters when their team is struggling. a true fan supports his or her team no matter the success the team is having that particular year.

I believe that when Peebles only won like one game a few years ago some fans still thought we could go to state. All the teams in the SHL have very good fan bases......except Fayetteville(When they played at Peebles there was maybe 20 people cheering on the rockets). We had easily twice as many fans on the visitors side as they did.
