Here's a link to the printable brackets. Congrats to Clay on their #2 spot, in a rebuilding year!

this was not a rebuilding year for clay

they were the predicted pre-season favorities by many to win the league if everyone had played and were still considered a threat even without those players

but congrats anyway for having a good year despite not having a senior on the team, having injuries, and having to play several sophomores and freshmen

good luck at tournament time and with the rest of the season

a lot of credit goes to the coach(es) for their success--no matter what my2cents may think about the coaches

I am sure that every team lost players to injury before and during the season and did not have some of the players back that were expected to play. You just have to do with what you have. I give the Clay girls respect for what they have accomplished. They were supposed to be the favorite over the past couple of years, but it just did not work out that way. I also give the New Boston Glenwood Tigers credit for all they have been through. The senior girls that are playing this year have played varsity every year since they were freshmen. I know that they have worked their butts off and it has not been easy.

Good Luck to the Panthers in tournament play! I look for them to do well.

No way did Fairfield get the #3 over South Webster....that had to be rigged for SW to avoid Waterford until the regionals and Eastern Meigs until the district finals.

Waterford is on the cakewalk side of the bracket to the regionals.

District semi game at Jackson....New Boston vs South Webster.....nice

Clay lost three senior starters (Summers, Castle, Jackson) to graduation--in addition to their starting junior pivot (Wheeler) and junior 3 point specialist/6th man (Osborne) who both opted out of basketball. Only junior shooting guard Katherine Bauer and junior pivot Holly Hempill saw extensive playing time as sophomores last season. Sophomores Chelsea Beegan, Julie Williams, and Keely Craft, and freshman guard Emily Spriggs got a few minutes a year ago but were still VERY raw. So a team that loses all its seniors and all its juniors from the previous year isn't rebuilding. Got it.

EDIT TO ADD: Clay lost at McDermott Northwest tonight 38-36. Holly Hempill led the way for the Panthers with 16 points. Emily Spriggs added 11 in the loss which drops the Panthers to 12-7 overall.

Fairfield and South Webster are in different sectionals this year. Webster was moved to the Athens sectional.

disagree on the south gallia over south webster prediction
south webster plays better competition (should have been the 3 seed in that sectional) and defeated clay by 20+ and has handled new boston every year
both clay and new boston defeated south gallia
