The Jackson D3 sectional field is much deeper than the Waverly or Athens sectionals.........it will be a real fight for the top 5 seeds, and the potential for some upsets is there. I just hope that Portsmouth can win enough games to get a good seed, because strength of schedule means nothing when it comes to comparing records. The Trojans will have played more D1 (Logan twice) and D2 schools than anyone else in the sectional, but it really won't be worth two cents when it comes to putting teams on the bracket.

Yes much deeper this year....last year Waverly Sectional..Piketon, North Adams, Westfall, Zane Trace, Portsmouth....produced two District Champions, and a Final 4 Team.

And Peebles, probably this years #1 seed at the aforementioned sectional.

Portsmouth and Ironton will really have to almost win out from here. If Ironton isnt at least 16-4 they will be in trouble. With 9 votes coming form the OVC and the SOC, Portsmouth and ironton will be left out in the cold.

It feels to me like Basketball Season has barely started - and we're talking Tournament already? Mercy! I don't even have my attention/focus fully switched over from football - at either/both HS and College level, yet.
There is no "computer points cut-off" required to "make the playoffs" in basketball - like in football where some teams are therefore left out. Every school's team automatically goes to the Tournament in Basketball, right? I get it that you see a lot of potentially good teams all located in the same Sectional, but can we just watch the season play out game by game for a little while?

Would like to see them seed the whole district and assign the different sites.
Like they do in the Central District and SW District

No they did not but they were a very good team whom I thought should be mentioned. Peebles has a schedule which could allow them to go undefeated. Piketon might be a better team then the tribe but they will probably be the 2 or 3 seed due to their number of losses.

I think Piketon is a better team than Peebles, but schedule is not rewarded in the voting for seeds........wins is all that matters........the Redstreaks play the best NC slate in the SE district for D3, but unfortunately will probably get the #2 seed out of the draw.

I think Piketon and Peebles are tight. I believe either could very well beat either. RIght now it's Peebles at the #1 as they have good wins and no upset losses, while Piketon has slightly better wins...they also have been upset.

Peebles will be placed where the SVC coaches want them....and probably looking ahead to the district round matchups as well.

I doubt that 2 many SVC teams are concerned about Peebles .They should be concerned about the folks coming out of the Jackson sectional as should Peebles.
5 teams in the Jackson sectional can beat Piketon and Peebles from Waverly.
5 teams from Jackson can beat Zane Trace, Alex, and NY from Athens.

Don't forget Eastern Brown who only has one loss to a good division 2 team.( Hillsboro )

I guarantee Piketon will have a better route (seemingly from before the tourney) than Peebles will. It won't matter once you make it to about the district semis.....but if Eastern Brown goes a little off on the cold side......they'll fall off to the #8 seed....or #7 if they can get Piketon the #1.

For me....If Peebles can stay 2 losses better than Piketon then they should have the higher seed. It'll be very interesting regardless.

Piketon loses one maybe two more for a total of 4 or 5,losses Peebles stays undefeated, and gets #1 seed.
