Div 3 Jackson Sectional Tourney Updates...

Everyone is counting chickens way before they hatch.

I bet Oak Hill fans are already making plans for hotels in C-Bus. When in reality they could lose their first game. Burg (if they beat Rock Hill) will not be an easy out. Also, Belpre is really coming on!!! Not to mention the Regional matchups that will be if everyone wins in D3. WOW!!! This is not D4, Games are going to be tough to come by. Low scoring tournament games play right into some of the inferior teams strengths, hence the Burg!!

I'm an OH fan that doesn't think we are a shoe in for the final four. I think it would be a fine season if we made it to the regionals but even that will be extremely hard. It was a magical season last year and I would love to see it repeated but those kind of seasons rarely if ever happen.

Not only is there a lot of good talent in this region..there is a lot of great coaches..no team in our region could ever sensibly think they are a shoe in....Ironton, Oak Hill, Peebles, Chesepeake, Portsmouth to name a few that could easily advance...

Portsmouth has recently defeated Peake and Ironton.....hard to top anyone being more tourney ready than them!

on the other hand they may have spent too much and won't have enough left. that is what tournament time does for all involved and is the best time for high school basketball.

Fans from Oak Hill absolutely understand that D3 is tougher than D4, there's no question. But from the way it sounds maybe the OAKS shouldn't even show up for the sectional, because heck, they are already beat. The men from Oak Hill just find ways to compete and win no matter at what level, they are winners plain and simple. Great COACHES, KIDS, and a community that supports the men and women 100%. Its going to be fun following both teams as they make their tourny runs. GO OAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think they necessarily bottled bendolph up. Granted he didn't score, but from hearing from others he was able to get good looks and could get any shot he needs, he just can't make them. Burg was 0-16 from 3 point land. They lost by 9, think if they could have hit just 4 or 5 of those, then it would be a different game. Barrick needs to do something different. I say Stall, shorten the game!!!

The Oaks will rely on their defense, one thing about playing great D is that it is consistent, unlike your O from time to time. The Oak Hill kids love to get after you on the Defensive end of the floor. Coach Persin has done a great job of convincing the kids that DEFENSE will win you games.

The Oaks have ridden their defense all year, and I don't expect tourney time to be any different. The 2-3 zone has stymied the Oaks opponents for the biggest part this year and if need be their man-to-man can be very agressive. That said...what a DIII tourney this should be!!

Ok, so where is the best place to eat around Jackson? I heard there is a pizza place that everybody raves about in either Oak Hill Or Jackson? Any idea? If these are split sessions, a guys gotta eat before and after every game!

Facts are facts, but I don't see Burg shooting 0-16 from 3 point land again! If Bendolph gets cold, get some of those 3-point shooters from the JV team that beat Portsmouth earlier in the season...

No, not kidding. Shorten it down even more. Make the first quarter a 4-2 or 4-3 game. Halftime a 10-8 type of game. Bring Oak Hill out of the zone!! Does Barrick have that in him to do it? We will see. Oak Hill fans, beware of this game!!

Wheelersburg looks pretty good most of the time tonight..however they were playing with a poorly coached rock hill team...I know most of the Rock Hill kids were young..but they just weren't given a chance to win by the coaching staff..the school district did a real disservice to their kids not having a coach for their kids..they didn't pick for each other all game..no hustle..etc..when one or two kids don't do things..then maybe it's the kids..but when the whole team doesn't do things..it's coaching...

As far as the Burg and Oak Hill..I think the Burgs big man could play with any team in this area..the other players didn't really impress me a whole lot..however I didn't see them have to give everything they had..nor did I see them play against a tough defense like they will against Oak Hill..I am sure it will be a good game..both coaches are great coaches..It will probably come down to who wants it more..

Cardos is good and very handy from the high school...go down hill, go past 1st stop sign and go to the next intersection....there it is on the left. (if you didn't pass the old high school you went the wrong way.

We have a Ponderosa that is way better than any other Ponderosa I've ever had. Dakota's and Bob Evans are always good. Our DQ is very good. Plus all the fast food many of us love. For a Jackson Co Bubble (GREAT ice cream treat) go to Michael's Ice Cream across from the court house with the blue awning.
