I just read on another site where Minford has 7 returning offensive starters. They lost 8 starters on offense so how is that possible? i think the only returning starters are Miller, Conkey and Slone. I do agree the strength of this team should be the defense and backfield. interested in seeing the scrimmage tomorrow because it should be a good test for the Falcons to see where they are.

heard the falcons faired pretty well against the trojans, who is a very good football team...each team scored once in a 10 n 10 series kinda scrimmage. minford ran 28 plays compared to portsmouth's 20 before the game was canceled due to lightening.. the one question about the falcons this year would be about the OL and so far they are playing up to par so expect the falcons not to miss a beat from last year and another winning season in minford!!

The Falcons looked pretty good last night. They had some bright spots, and some not so bright spots.
The O-line looked pretty good, I mean Portsmouth didn't run right through them. But, at least there's hope. Butcher looked very good at times at QB, he made some good passes. Just needs to settle down a little when throwing on the move. But I think he played a good half, anyway. Slone looked like a one man wrecking crew out there. He ran hard, of course, and it took several Trojans to bring him down.
The D-fense looked pretty good. They gave up two big plays, one was a screen play. And the other was a draw, but other than that they looked pretty good. But there was still too many missed tackles, and nobody stepped up and put any good hits on anybody. I think the linebackers need to pick it up a little bit. They have the most experience, and need to show it.
But, for the most part, I think we looked pretty good. And as long as we don't get people hurt, we can make a run at the Gold Football again. I think we have alot of talent on this team, and with the coaches we have, we should do nothing but improve.
I'm not going to say that we are a shoe-in, to win the league, but I think we will surprise some people. There is some people that thank we don't have a chance to compete, but from what I seen last night, I think we will be in good shape.

I was really impressed with the falcons. At times they would have a few mistakes but that's why the coach schedules scrimmages to see what he will need to focus on the remainder of the practices until game time. This year is going to be taken over by Heart. The past few years it has been Either size, speed or talent. This year is heart. No teams are extremely big, Fast or Talented. It will be one of the most exciting years of Friday Night Football and I want nothing more to watch my Falcons take home another gold football.

Let's get it Falcons

Good post. From what I saw last night, I think we will be fine. We will probably have slightly different look on offense as Butcher looks to be very athletic at QB and throws a really good ball, not to mention will be one of the fastest kids on the field. Slone ran hard, Gaines gives them a great look at RB and will be hard to stop with our backs. Linebackers are experienced from last year and hopefully they start giving more licks than they take. It will be a fun year for sure.

It was my first look at the Falcons. Portsmouth and Minford looked pretty even to me. I t looks like a good year for both. Minford looks balanced to me. The Falcons need some depth and hopefully, the coaches can find it. It looked to me like of the 12 offensive starters (two SEs) that 9 started on Defense. I really liked Portsmouth's stadium.

Yes indeed Butcher looked very good throwing the ball. He made some passes that would have never been made by last yrs qb. Better to throw short to mid range passes than to throw long and be incomplete or picked. Butcher is faster to and will be exciting to watch. to bad he didnt start there last year. Slone looked like a machine and should have a great year. I think Piget will have a good year too. Defense was weak in the middle. Backers need to pick it up some. quickness is the key this year. these boys cant line up and push people around like the line did last year but i think their quickness can be very effective. good luck Falcons.

Had nothing else to do so went down to see the scrim, I was shocked how Minford hung in there and really took it to Portsmouth which are the preseason pick to compete to win the SEOAL.

^ I've been trying to tell you guys this since day 1, the ones that are saying, "they have an inexperienced o-line, they have a new QB, etc...."

Minford is at the point in their program where they are starting to reload and not rebuild.

Guys its a scrimmage for one and both teams was running 10 plays. I would have liked to seen the downs, thats where you see how you move the ball. Running 10 plays are a warmup. I hope Minford does well as for all local teams.

I don't think anyone really seen anything that matter from either team. They had barely gotten started before it was cancelled. Turnover, penalties, and 3rd down conversion were not a part of the scrimmage you got your 10 plays regardless. Down and distance would have given us a better indication as to where each team is right now. I do think the Falcon will have a good year, and I agree they will not be down like some people thought. Good Luck to both Teams I hope both make the playoffs.

I agree with Trojan of the Past. Down and distance, penalties and special teams are very important without them it is hard to tell everything. However, I think both Portsmouth and Minford will have excellent teams.

Everybodies getting quiet, I hope your not losing faith. I can't wait for next Friday. I think we will surprise a few teams this year. This might be the best year for our league. Everybody is looking pretty strong, and most teams better make a run for it this year, because next year their going to be weak. And I think that if we can play some defense, we will be as good as anybody!!!!!

I agree with that comment. Right now it looks like there are at least 4 very good teams.
