Wheelersburg @ South Webster 1/12 Game 58-55 Jeeps win

I think the 'Bug is really missing Shankwiler (sp?). Isn't he the boy who had shoulder surgery?

bit of a rough game. Way to shake off the hard hit Mr Scott.
Re: Wheelersburg @ South Webster 1/12 Game 58-55 Jeeps win
Sounded like it did get rough the 2nd half. Wheelersburg turned it up a notch.

They are missing Schankwieler, Craigmiles, Kemper, and Whitley. Two of those were starters last year the other two really contributed strongly off the bench. They really miss these four kids badly.

when the TRojans lost to Webster in the first game of the season,I told everyone that Webster was a pretty good team.
I know against us,they ran their offense really well, and was very selective in their shots.
congrats to Webtser on a great start to the season

Big win for Webster. They have the ability to make a deep run in D4 this season.
Barrick will get the Burg on track. I wouldn't want to play Burg the second time around. They are not used to loosing!

JMO.. Burgs Defense is there or close I should say , need to work on letting the other team getting offensive rebounds and easy shots.. Way to many of those last night.... Offense, needs to open it up, they need to run the court more(fast breaks) in my opinion almost as if its to under control and kids are scared to shoot the rock.. and someone needs to step up besides Bendolph and Stegman .. Lang,Ballard,Ward,Miller or McBee needs to become a threat from outside and a consistent shooter.. They are missing that more than anything.. Besides Lang I dont even see the other kids looking to shoot the ball and teams are just packing it in on Stegman .. Im sure Barrick will get this turned around and they will become a team hard to beat in the second half of the season.. I do believe this team will find its identity soon..

First of all, I would like to offer my congrats to S.W. on the win last night.
Webster did get several easy shots last night. A few of those shots were on offensvie rebounds but several were on uncontested looks. The Burg defense is coming around but still is a work in progress. Burg missed several layups that should have been an easy 2 points. Webster hit 9, 3 pointers, to Burgs 1. Andy and Andrew have stepped up their game on offense but they cannot continue to be the only threats to score. Guys who are getting significant minutes have to look to shoot the ball when they have the shot and not pass up open looks. Webster is very athletic, defend well, patient on offense but not afraid to take the 3 and use their bench. I was very impressed with what Coach Ater (hope I spelled that right) is doing with this club. I can promise you that no one has to tell Coach Barrick or Coach Massie what the problems are, they know and they work on those in practice everyday. Good luck to both squads as you continue the season.

This was the first time I had seen the Jeeps play this year and all I can say is wow!! Coach Ater has really turned this program around. I know the season is still young but it is a totally different team out there on the floor compared to the last two years. The boys were a little rusty last night but I am excited to see them progress the rest of the year.
As for Burg, Stegman is a beast!! You can not stop that kid.

they only problems that webster has is that scott and the loop boys need to work as a team they r a dominate force together but when they try to do it by their self it falls apart, also stupid fouls, some in this game were just uncalled for no reason to even foul, if a guy is under the basket dont foul him if you have 4 fouls common sense..... But i do have to say webster has some of the best guard play in the league and wes loop can shoot the lights out of the three ( even if your in his face)

The Jeeps have a solid resume with wins over Portsmouth, Wheelersburg, and Northwest.......South Webster has the look of a regional team in D4 and is a serious contender for the SOC II title.

Burg's season ended with the make up of the team before the season started. I think the phrase is the chickens came home to roost.

I've said it before you have basketball players and then you have kids playing basketball, there is a world of difference. I think the Burg has finally lost it's edge, with football players not playing and now BB kids not playing. Seems things are getting lazy at the Burg, more tham other schools. The coaches need to try to get there best kids out or they will have more losing seasons.
Re: Wheelersburg @ South Webster 1/12 Game 58-55 Jeeps win
burg needs more scoring from others. there is no bench. if you are not playing good defense then you better be able to score. why we don't use more pressure is beyond me. i guess it goes back to potential foul trouble and no bench. as for those chosing not to play i think it is about choices. every sport expects you to devote all your time to it without concern for the others. also, today players can play one sport all year around. with "pay to play" teams you can play one sport all season long.

The thing that makes Webster a true threat is the bench. Malone, Sutton, and Miller can come in and play just as good and hard as the starters. Malone had some big defensive plays last night and scores. Sutton is going to be a force in the coming seasons inside. He had the big play of the game last night with the board and the two free throws, after coming in for Trevor Queen, who fouled out.

Re: Wheelersburg @ South Webster 1/12 Game 58-55 Jeeps win
Great win for the Jeeps. Most impressive thing is the balanced scoring they are getting. If you'd told me that Scott would only have 6 pts. and they'd still beat Wheelersburg, I'd said "you're crazy." But the contributions they are getting from the underclassmen and the bench have been major pluses.
As for Wheelersburg, I wouldn't bury them yet with the 1-2 combo of Stegman and Bendolph. I wouldn't be surprised though if Barrick moves up a player or two from the jv team to shake things up and try to get another scoring option. Whitley and Kemper not coming out has made more of an impact then I would have guessed.*
