Re: Logan Footbal Coach Resigns
Coach Amyx was a great coach. So who, if anyone, is in line to take the job?
Re: Logan Footbal Coach Resigns
Yes the program is soild, but new blood can inspire the program to continue winning championships and appearing in the playoffs I think they should look for a young successful coach. Remenber change can be good!
Re: Logan Football Coach Resigns
Very good job building that program Coach Amyx. Very fundamental teams. Good Luck to Logan finding a good replacement.

Re: Logan Football Coach Resigns
This was rumored some time ago, and everyone thought that Coach Wolfe was the next in line. Now that it has come to pass, Wolfe seems like a logical choice if Logan chooses to stay "in house".
Are there any other names being thrown around for this job???

Re: Logan Football Coach Resigns
While not a surprise, what a huge story out of Logan.
Amyx has been the face of Logan football for as long as my memory stretches, and replacing him will not be an easy job. In 20 years as head coach and 30 years as a member of the LHS coaching staff, it's safe to say that Coach Amyx has put his "stamp" on LHS football.
His run over the last 12 years is, to put it lightly, unbelievable, 11 winning seasons (including 9 years with at least 8 wins) without a single losing season. 7 playoff appearances (with 4 of them coming in Division I) and 10 Southeastern Ohio Athletic League titles. The 12 year run includes 4 unbeaten regular season teams [2000 (12 wins), 2001 (10 wins), 2008 (11 wins), 2009 (11 wins)], 2 9 win teams (1999 and 2007), and 3 8 win teams (1998, 2005, 2006).
Amyx career record was 140-71 for a .660 win percentage. Amyx won 13 SEOAL Championships in 20 seasons.
If Kelly Wolfe is the next head coach at Logan High School, he will become the first LHS graduate to hold that job. Kelly has been on the staff since 1991 and is a 1987 LHS graduate.

Amyx has run a great program. Wolfe would be a good choice. Don't see much changing if thats the case. Its a surprise, but Logan should continue to be good.

Re: Logan Football Coach Resigns
I knew this had been going around in the rumor mill for a while. However, I thought it had died down and all was calm on the Southeastern Front. Caught me by surprise when I seen it on the headlines on the internet. Great job to Coach Amyx. As LoganLocos stated, Amyx has been the face of Logan football for as long as I can remember. Wolfe will be great as a Head Coach. I don't think Logan's offensive philosophy will change much under him simply because he has been the Offensive Coordinator. However, with Amyx leaving, that leaves a void on the Defensive side. I assume that Wolfe will keep the offensive reigns if he becomes the Head Coach. However, who will be the new face of the defensive staff? This will definately keep the wheels turning and give us plenty of things to talk about until fall.

This job is not up in the air. I'll eat my hat if Coach Wolfe doesn't get it. Good job and good luck to Coach Amyx, I guess he finally got tired of it. I'm sad that he never got a regional championship or better, but he's put Logan in a good position to have success in the future.
