How I'd seed this sectional as of right now:

1. Logan Elm
2. Athens
3. Warren
4. Sheridan
5. Vinton County
6. Fairfield Union
7. Gallipolis
8/9 - New Lex/Marietta

Athens is a great team from what i saw last night but i can't see them being ranked above Logan Elm. Remember that the seeding takes votes from teh coaches into conideration and i don't think too many teams are going to want to put LE at the 2 spot... althought i have been known to be wrong from time to time... :122249

What you're forgetting is that it seldom comes down to who is deserving. It normally comes down to coaches voting on what benefits their team. If coaches can stay away from Logan Elm, they will do so regardless of who they actually think the better team is.

If New Lexington and Marietta are playing in the 8/9 game, then their coaches have to ask themselves who they would rather play if they win that game and vote accordingly. So, if they are smart, they will actually vote the team they think is the best at number 2. It's a flaw in the way the voting is done, but nonetheless, that's how it is done. If I were a coach and I thought I would get the 4 or 5 seed I would do the same thing. I would vote the team I wanted to avoid at number 2. If Athens has the best record, it would be easy to justify voting them 1.

That is an excellent point Jake ... I never even considered that, but it does make perfect sense ... The only problem is there are what, 7 other schools who get to vote ... Even if New Lex, Marietta & Athens vote Athens No. 1 (that still leaves six others who will vote Logan Elm No. 1) correct?

Unless the 4 & 5 seeds are thinking the same thing I guess, but man, that is a lot of thinking & planning going on before a single game is even played ... lol ... The 8/9 and 4/5 and Athens would all have to vote Athens No. 1 - and then it could actually be possible the Bulldogs end up with the top seed ... I see the chances of that happening at about 10%, but you are right, it's possible.

It's just one game and doesn't show who would win in one versus the other....but

Warren and Athens both played Jackson @ Jackson...I was at both games and both games Jackson was playing well through 3 qtrs and had a double digit lead in both.....vs Athens, Jackson just kept outplaying them and extended the lead to a game high 26 at game's end......whereas Warren was down 11 after 3 qtrs and just were relentless in coming back...Jackson did a few things to assist their comeback but Warren prevailed in OT answering every positive Jackson moment late.

As a sidebar...Warren destroyed Jackson in Vincent.

1 thing is common.....Athens and Warren have 2 of my favorite SE district coaches and each have very respectful programs.

I agree bman Logan Elm should be the #1, but I think Athens will end up getting the #1 and LE will get the #2.

VC would love to see Athens in the 1 spot.

In the recent past the TVC teams in this sectional have not received the highest seed regardless of their records. I know recently VC had about 3 fewer losses than Warren but Warren took the higher seed....Marietta may have done that to them as well.

Deserving or not...I think that will happen to Athens for sure.

Doesn't really matter if you are the two or the three seed it is basically the same. VC at four may lobby for a three to stay away from LE

I think Athens has a better chance at the one seed than VC the 3. Had VC split with Athens this season, then i think they would be the 3 seed. If VC can beat NY tonight and Piketon Saturday night, with a Warren loss, they could have an outside shot at the 3 seed...but i just dont see it happening.

What does that bring Warrens record to and do they play tomorrow night?

VC is now 11-4 with a big matchup against Piketon tomorrow night which would really help their resume for a 4 seed. Warrens win over Chilli tonight pretty much locks them into at least the 3 seed. If Athens gets upset tomorrow night Warren will be the 2 seed without question.

Chillicothe's record is 9-7, but the losses all came to very good teams.

losses
Xenia
Logan Elm
Ironton(twice)
Pickerington Central
Canton Timken
Warren

Very good victory for Warren on Chillicothe's home court. Not that it really matters who gets the 2 or 3 seed, but I think Warren just sealed up the 2 seed behind Logan Elm with this victory.
