Anybody that knows NORN they know what goes on. Like I said go to Chesapeake and ask anyone down there taht was in the program or had a son in the program. To correct you on your statement about OAK HILL not recruiting. You need to go to Jackson City and ask one of your former player mother about recruiting. Why, because I set by her at the Convo and she was bragging about her son being recruited by one of Norms asst. coaches. Sorry, I had to mention that. You can come up for air now.

Well to me looks like Oak Hill was investigated and OHSAA found nothing wrong with what Oak Hill did, and i guess all that practice payed off becuase them boys from the village got them a big ol nice ring that reads STATE CHAMPS.. :122245

Congrats to Coach Persin.

Post subject: Re: Norm Persin named National Coach of the Year

I believe it is great that a coach recieves an award, but that's if he or she does it the right way. I have real problem when a coach recieves an award when they cheat. Everyone in Southeastern Ohio and other parts of the state knows and knew what went on at Chesapeake and Oak Hill. Recruiting is a issue, setting out trash cans and running players until they puked their toe nails out. Open gym all year long, having an lookout at the door to let players in only and no visitors. Believe me I'm not trying to start any trouble on this site, but I have a friend that his son played for Storming Norman at Chesapeake and I have heard all the stories about this GUY. It's a real shame that a person is awarded when they don't do it the right way. I have always said that winners never cheat and cheaters never win. Sorry if I offended any of Norm's supporters.

I don't know if norm recruited or not and don't care. Private schools do it all the time, why should any public school be upset if a little recruiting is going on, just evens things up to compete with the private schools. As for kids puking in trash cans, did they make it through and I bet they are now a better person for it. The kids learned that many things can be accomplished through hard work and sacrifice (life lesson). Sounds like your friend is disgruntled because little Johnny set the bench. The people who typically complain in these situations are the ones who don't want to sacrifice. I am not a Norm supporter, at times Norm can be an ass, news flash most great coaches are an ass(previous word gets edited and changed when submitted by filters) most of the time. This they have learned is the best way to deal with parents whose only concern is little johnny and not the rest of the team.

seperate your personal feelings and be glad for a Southeastern Ohio coach and a great community.

Stopsign, sounds just like where a Coach Norm hater would be at the Covo. Right in the middle of the Oak Hill fans, next to a players mother? That sound realistic. Since you did not offer your first hand knowledge to the OHSAA, maybe you and "everyone" else that you know who knows it for sure can offer it to the OHSSA you talked about? Rainman is right, you sound a little bitter about the past and should be focused on being for happy the kids and the area.

I'm a big Oak Hill fan! I sat right in the middle next my aunt Normie Ball and beside ex Jackson High School athletic mother sister & brother. After a game last year I even asked Coach Norm if I could dry clean his towel. Remember OHSAA is like a blind cat, they will catch the mouse when and if it chooses. Since someone else mentioned about private schools recruiting. Don't you think the can of worms would craw out if that issue was pushed.
GO OAKS!!! :-D :122245

I agree with "stopsigns" couple of posts but agree with others too, why not pat a coach from Southeastern Ohio on the back when we can because city public schools and catholic schools do these kind of things all the time with no repercussions. As far as OHSAA patrolling and not finding anything, we all know as a couple posters said in other words that they can get who they want when they want and can turn a blind eye when they want. Congrats to Norm for sort of evening up the odds for SEO. :-D

Here is a former player for Norm and my father was also an asst under Norm as well.

1st things 1st---Congrats to Coach Persin. Very well deserved.

Moving on---I played for the man and know him very well. The allegations made by stopsign are pure bullsh*t. There is a reason you are a highschool kid and make stupid comments like the ones you just made. I have also talked to the president of the OHSAA and there has never, not once, been any wrong doing in the Chesapeake program.

Let me make an example so that you understand clearly:

Matt Rucker was from Fairland, yet Mom works as a teacher at Chesapeake. Matt plays buddy basketball at Chesapeake his entire childhood and then attends Chesapeake schools. That is not recruiting.
Bobby Barbour played in Huntington growing up. He is best friends with Anthoney Delimpo who is from Chesapeake. He played on the same AAU team as Delimpo. His family moved to Chesapeake when he was in 7th grade. This is not recruiting.
Aaron Gossett played his entire youth league career at Chesapeake. He played for Coach Cannonball in youth league then he open enrolled his 8th grade year. No recruiting.
PJ Rase also came from Wheelersburg/Green, but it was his mother and father who were both employed by Chesapeake. Why would the Rase children go to another school while thier mother and father are teaching at Chesapeake? I see no recruiting.

If you want to talk recruiting then look no further then summer camps. Summer camps are natural legal recruiting tools. You play with kids from all over the tri-state and you are coached up by Norm and his current players. I am sure the kids take a look at all of the championships and success on the wall and say I would like to be a part of this. Winning breads success, and when you are on top as long as Norm and Chesapeake were, then everyone wants to play for you.

That is my response to your bogus comments.

 Kid don't you know those are how rumors start?

I am a former player and I have no problem with speaking out against some highschool kids version of "I know someone who told me this one time". Please do not call out former players and expect to have any of us on your side. I have great respect for the program coach Persin built at Chesapeake, with that being said, I also have have had moments that I wanted to quit and tell him to stick it where the sun does not shine. Do you not think that a good majority of Bobby Knights players did not feel the same way? We were and are better people for playing for coach Persin. We learned about being accountable for your own actions while also learning about what it meant to work for something bigger then your own personal goals. I played alongside some very good players, and I never once heard of any whispers of wrong doing. I am sure that other players mentioned that they were going to go to Chesapeake and play for coach Persin and for whatever reason it did not happen, but what exactly is it that makes that illegal? I heard several times that Shane Holsinger (south point standout) was coming to Chesapeake, and I am sure if Holsingers parents contacted Norm or one of his assistants then they would have said we would love to have your son come to Chesapeake, but this is not an example of recruiting.

When you are winning kids will always want to be a part of your program, and you will always have people like stopsign ready to call foul on everything because they or someone close to them is jealous, or sure that they know something they think they know, but really they have no idea.

Some advice for your kid, keep your mouth shut and you will make it in life :122249

[Gee, I must have pissed someone off; I'll go back to school on Tuesday at Oak Hill. I will continue to stand by my statements I do know that former players were told "this is the way it is here". Remember one thing avalanche don't ever compare Bobby Knight with Norm. Us students at Oak Hill love Coach Norm, but we do understand how things work here. Remember; Love, Play, Cheat & Recruit...     b][/b]

its just a shame that we cant end all of this silly talk by jackson and oak hill actually playing each other once and a while. I think it would be a very competative game with a lot of pride on the line. I also believe both teams would have a lot to prove to each other!

IronFalcon, you shouldn't leave it alone. Just state your facts and specifics? Cheating is a very strong word to throw out. If you use that word you obviously can state the specifics of cheating, and should have stepped up and testified to the OHSAA. If your facts are two kids transfered in, and that is your case? One of the kids will be a valedictorian this year and the other one had a 4.0 GPA senior year and is on DEAN's list at college. I would think Coach Persin was pretty good for both of them off the court also. Many Chesapeake former players and familiies attended the basketball awards night to honor the state championship for the boys. That is a huge statement of how Coach Persin positively affected their lives also.

I'm kinda going to blame the parents for being valedictorian and making of the dean's list. I'll blame Persin for helping them (or vice versa as well) winning a state championship.

thanks for the support earp.

why are we even listening to a high school kid, that in all reality has no idea about life let alone coach persin. He has brought no evidence forward that would even suggest he knows more then what is for lunch after 4th period. I learned after working in college sports that most people who say they know something in public have no idea.
