CLAY 12 16 15 8
51N. D. 15 5 10 14
44 ND jumped out to an early lead at but had committed 10 fouls halfway thru the second quarter. Clay was hitting their foul shots, so that was a big factor. Valentine hit 9 of 11 and the team hit 15 total to ND's 3. Clay had a 43 - 28 lead with a minute left in the third, but failed to hold onto it. That's the third game in a row that they have lost late leads. They went into a bit of a stall looking for just lay ups, and missed several of them and let ND come back to 48 - 44 with 2 minutes in the game. Clay made the same mental mistakes again at the end of the game, up 5 points with a minute left they forced up a couple of shots instead of holding the ball and making ND foul. They also couldn't get the ball inbounds with 43 seconds left, but did avoid the 5 second call by throwing a full court pass, but turned it over on a travel when the ball was caught. That is still better than taking the 5 and giving the ball up under ND's basket. They played a mix of zone and man to man defense and kept ND from getting into a good rhythm.

Both student sections were entertaining yelling back and forth at each other. It was good to see support out for both teams. Good luck to ND the rest of the season, and let's hope Clay can carry this winning streak over to New Boston on Friday. God, I hate that gym, and it's homecoming!
